I just go a Peavey Transtube 112 EFX amp (a little Christmas present to myself) - WOW! This is a great little amp! It's got a pretty big sound: more then enough for practice, church, or smaller gig settings. With my old Sho-Bud Pro I, I'm getting a very nice sound with the following settings:CLEAN CHANNEL: Volume: 4 "Vintage" Setting Low: 7 Mid: 1 High: 4 LEAD CHANNEL (This sounds similar to my old Boss Tone): Pre Gain: 6.5 "Modern" Setting Low: 5.5 Mid: 10 High: 3.5 Post Gain: 1.5 DIGITAL EFX Section: Reverb: 3.5 LED's lit Delay: 1.5 LED's lit T. DYNAMICS: 100% I'm very pleased with this amp and would recommend it to any steel player looking for a small, lightweight amp with a surprising big sound. My thanks to Mike Brown and all the fine people at Peavey for another winner! Bob

Hi Bob. Sounds good I imagine also. How many watts is this one. I just got a Transtube Pro 212s. And though it is not as light etc. I also am quite as happy as you sound. This critter is 2 speakers and stereo to boot, which is one reason I got it. And it is midi controled, but I think yours would be also. My only critique is the T Dynamics explaination is to small to be clear (for me). As a recording engineer I really want to know exactly where it is in line and it's curves etc. A small thing I know. |

Hi David,The 112 EFX is rated at 65 Watts RMS into 8 Ohms. This is all that my operation manual say about the T. DYNAMICS control: "This control adjusts the power amp output level from 10% to 100%. When set to lower levels, the tube power compression simulation will be much more pronounced." Bob |

Yes Bob that is what mine says also, for me a woefully incomplete explanation. The 212s is twin 90w amsp and the chorusing and/or echos is stereo also. In fact I can have two totally different amp sounds at the same time from each speaker. I like that a lot. I had it on trial from a store for a week and couldn't let it go back.[This message was edited by David L. Donald on 28 December 2003 at 08:08 AM.] |
