Hi studio mavens.
Anybody AB these consoles.

I have a dance track guy I am integrating a project studio for, and he is waffling on the 2 consoles.

I know the DM 2000 has more internal effects proccessing, but still think a great external unit and $3000 or so of plug-ins for Logic or Cubase would be much more effective especially for music like Daft Punk etc.

I think the O2r is overkill, let alone the Dm 2000, even if he wants to do jazz bands live later on. Save the cash and put it into trick plugs that advance the style.

I think he would be better off with an o1r96 and 2 killer effects units like and Eventide, and a decent TC etc.

Any comments on the o2r Dm2000's internal effects and especially the reverbs, are they really like a Good Rev7 or Rev 9 etc.

How's the dynamics/EQ modeling?

And this will all be running from a gamers laptop not a true work machine. So twin firewire ADAT interfaces to the computer.

I have to integrate it one way or another.
I am tech central, but not decision central.
So I figured some feed back would be good.

There is also the monitors issue, he wants the Alesis Prolinear 720dsp's without having heard them....
And waffling on a sub wooofer...
yeah mixing dance tracks and no sub woofer.... yow!

I say get the ADAMS w accordian tweeters, or Genelec 1031's or 1029s with a 7050 sub woofer.

Anyone heard these 720's???
For me it's a pig in a poke...
the Genelecs are known entities.
And the ADAMS sound even better.

Unknown monitors are just plain scary.
Garbage in Garbage out.

And at the very least RPG's studio in a box.
if not a true room analysis.

I ain't gotten diddly for work done, except for digging info on his project this week.

Thanks in advance
DLD

Thanks to Mark Tullbert for the reply on this.

I did check into that Ramsa, but we are now decided on the
DM 1000 Yamaha and a much better monitoring system too.

I would go with the 02r96 before I would go with the DM2000....It's a lot less money and has the 2000's pre's ....It sounds as good as the DM2000 ....If you need smaller go with the 01v96....I'm not sure if they're the same pre's as the 02r96, but they sound good just the same ...The ADAM 3a sound GREAT !!...Less money ? Any of the Dynaudio's ...Very accurate !!...Poop in / Poop out !!.... Less money yet ?...The new Event Precision 8's !!
Lot of bang for the buck....Plenty of power and plenty of in your face material well represented ..Wide sweet spot , no need for subwoofer .....Hope this helps....Jim
