What have people found to be the optimal height on the E9 neck for a True-Tone pickup? Two quarters?Brad Sarno

Hi! Brad:
I asked Jerry that question and he told me to start at about 2 quarters on the treble side and about 3 on the bass. I started at that point and slightly raised my bass side to suit my playing style. Thank you for all the informative posts you have submitted. |

Hi Brad, Ricky D said to adjust a Wallace True-tone to a loose 3 quarters. This worked perfect for me. |

Two quarters and a dime work for me. But I didn't have $.75 when I was putting mine in! I don't think the mounting height is as critical on single coils as it is on humbuckers, so 3/16" is a good starting point. |

The height of a exposed Magnet is very important....as if it gets closer than 3/16" ; you will actually be inhibiting the movement of the string as that magnet is pulling down on the string as your moving the string side to side with your pick(s). So if the string is not able to move as freely as it should...You will get less sustain from the string and a small amount of distortion...or lack of clearity of that string...>make sense??? And it's not something you can see with your eye as we're talking very small ratios here....but believe me; it is happening...
So do not get the pickup any closer to the string than 3/16"(that's the height of 3 Quarters....and be done with it.
And if you don't hear a difference; than it doesn't really matter if it's too close....>put it where you like...>>but if it does matter.....>start there.
