Mostly, to satisfy my own curiosity, I would appreciate any info that anyone would care to contribute related to the lineage of Sho-Bud and Evans steel guitar amplifiers. If anyone would have any pictures, or brochures they could scan, or if you'd just want to type a few lines about anything you know relative to owning, or, maintaining these things, it should be of great interest to, not only myself, and, maybe, the forum community in general.

The first Evans designed amps I ever played through had the Sho-Bud label on them (and they were tube models). In additional to Jim (Evans), I remember Kenneth Cain designed some nice amps for Sho-Bud. By the time Jim started me playing steel, the Sho-Bud models were making way for the first Evans branded amps (solid state). A great player named Jerry Fox was involved with Jim in the early days and later Darrel Stephens worked with Jim (Darrel later bought the company and now the brand rests in the hands of the Buffingtons).

Jim still plays steel and I keep hearing of some remarkable designs and concepts he comes up with (but are not marketed).

Just as a little tidbit from a distant memory...when I was still hanging around Jim's store as a kid, a company that was making a stir approached Jim with designing a steel amp for them...Peavey. I recall seeing several prototypes that had Peavey's name on the front and the Evans logo on the back chassis. I never knew the details, but shortly after that, Peavey came out with their first steel amp and there was no mention of Jim Evans or his involvement. Just a curiousity and maybe I should ask Jim about that.
