My DeArmond 610 volume/tone pedal is not working tone-wise (the sideways direction does volume also now); does anybody know how these things are wired?

The pot is good (although the pot is stacked (dual gang) ...reads "F 250K R 500K". The .05 mfd cap tests good.

I can only tell you the normal wiring for a tone control... One of the side terminals is connected to the center wire at the input jack in the pedal. The capacitor is connected between the center tap on the tone control and the shield (pedal housing). The other side terminal is not used.

Thanks a million. Great shots, very clear.

But now I notice something about this pedal (is it all "geared" pedals?): The throw of the gear does not travel the full range of the pot (by a long shot!)... so, either not full-off at the back, or not full-on at the front. Maybe that's why string-pots were invented?

That's the limitation of geared type pots.. neither one thing nor the other, but if you use a "Buffer Amp" you can minimise the high frequency losses..
