I just bought one of these, how do you guys like them? I will probably use it mostly for guitar, but occasionally for steel.------------------ Darvin Willhoite Riva Ridge Recording

I thought the fet 500 high voltage was the best amp I ever played outside of the reverb going out but that is no big deal now I dont know why they changed to the LV but it definatly chaged the amp in my opionion but still a great amp, I think something should be done to modify the treble control, you almost have to turn it off on the ones Ive played |

I have an older Evans LV that I traded a Session 400 for and I love it. I still have a nash400, tubefex & SF TwinReverb but the Evans is my amp of choice. No effects other than onboard reverb. The treble is proportional to the volume control(i think)if I remember the manual correctly. I have the user/owners manual that came with my Evans, if you would like a copy i will try to scan and email to you. dw------------------ Sierra U-12 Crown Gearless, Peavey Nashville 400, 1971 Fender Twin Reverb, Peavey Tubefex, Evans FET LV, Peavey TT Bandit w/ex speaker. Regal Reso, Tele, Strat, 1970 Les Paul Std.

I have a small cab FET 500 LV and a large cab FET 500 HV. Both are Derrell Stephens built, and I like them both alot, but I really think the LV is my personal fave. I've had ShoBud, Peavey and Fender amps and out of all of them, I like the Evans the best. I also recently removed the JBL E130's and replaced them with 1504-4 Shallow Basket BW's. Lots more punch! Not that they JBL's sounded bad, just different. |

Hey Darvin, I had early 80's LV large cabinet with a JBL E-130 and a 90's LV small cabinet with an Eclipse. Both were fine amps, but I much preferred the large cabinet. Better on the low end response and the JBL is just a better sounding speaker to my ears. Again, both were very good amps. Dave |

I have both the large cabinet and the small cabinet FET 500 LV amps. They are great steel amps. I would rather have a tube amp for lead guitar . |

Darvin,I've played Evans FET 500 LV for steel, for several years having switched from N400. I really love the searing the power and tone of my '82 model. What a screamer! Best personal regards, bUd |

This is a head only that I bought, so I'll be able to try several different speakers easily. When I decide which one I like best, I'll probably build a custom combo cabinet for it. How do I tell if it was a Stephens built amp? Thanks for the opinions. ------------------ Darvin Willhoite Riva Ridge Recording

I've had a 500LV for 21 years with a JBL E130 and an SE200 for five years. I changed the speaker in the SE200 to a 1501-4 black widow and the FET 500 still kicks butt over the newer. the FET 500LV still, in my opinion, out performs the newer amps. |
