I'm thinking about buying a D10 in the near future and I'm leaning toward the GFI and I'm wanting to know what pup you guys are using. Thanks Tony |

I use the GFI II's which are stock on a GFI. My understanding is they are built by George L and is very close to the E66's. Sounds great!------------------ Gaylon's Homepage www.gaylonmathews.com Gretchen Wilson www.gretchenwilson.com GFI Ultra D-10, Fender Steel King, GHS Strings, SteelSeat.com

Yeah, definitely the GFI-2's. I don't know if they still offer the GFI-1. Too thin for my ears. The 2's sound great. I've talked to them before & they offer anything that's out there. Still, I'd go with the 2's, both necks. |

I use the GFI II on the E9 and left the GFI 1 on the C6 neck. |

I use the GFI II's on both necks, but I really liked the sound of Norm Hamlet's C6 neck with the Bill Lawrence 710. I think I am going to try one. I've had compliments about my C6 neck, but it just doesn't seem to quite have it on the low end the way I like it. There's a kind of muddy lack of string separation to it imho. Norm's sounded great with the 710. He was using the GFI II on the E9 when I heard him and that sounded great. |

Guys, thanks for the info. I'm wanting a lite guitar but, a strong guitar and the GFI fits the bill. Tony |

A Jerry Wallace TT sounds mighty fine also. Just for grins I tried an Emmons humbucker (normal tone). It's not mounted, just siting in the slot, but it sounds real good too. But I like the TT better! |

My GFI SD-10 has the GFI II pickup ; it sounds good to me. I thought about putting an E-66 in it but I like it the way it is.I may experiment later but for now it's fine. |

My little S-10 came with the GFI-II and I wasn't totally happy with that through my Nash-112 (which unlike most on this forum, I wasn't over the moon about either). I stuck in a E-66 which I thought was a slight improvement then I put a old JBL in the 112 which was a large improvement. I now have a Wallace TT in the GFI and I am quite happy with the combination of GFI+WallaceTT+Nash112+JBL! And the total weight of my rig, including seat full-o-stuff is right around 100lbs in lightweight increments. |
