Any suggestions for a basic setting on the DD3. Using a 57 Fender T-8 steel into a Randall Steelman 500 amp, thru a Goodrich pedal. Lee |

Lee, I use a Carter D10 into an NV1000. Because of the relatively low input impedance of the amp I run the guitar direct and use a Goodrich 120 volume pedal in the amp's front end effects loop. I then use a Boss DD3 delay and CE5 chorus (in that order)in the switchable effects loop. I rarely use the chorus but my delay settings are as follows: E.Level at about 10 o'clock (sets the volume of delayed signal so yours may vary), F.Level at minimum or barely open (sets number of delays, at minimum just one "bounce" for a slapback effect), D.Time at 9 o'clock (fine tunes coarse setting of "Mode" switch), and Mode switch on L for the longest delay times. I just recently discovered on my DD3 that if I set the Mode switch to M (medium delay times), and the D.Time is max'd, you get a really ugly digital sounding ping at the leading edge of the delay sound. I set the Mode to L and turned the D.Time down and the ping went away. I especially heard it with my Telecaster. I'd be interested to know if you hear the same thing. If you have not read any of the thread that Brad Sarno has posted here in the Electronics section, you might want to take a look at Brad's finding's. Since you mention the Low impedance of the Peavey amp input. I think you will find it interesting. I know I did. It's the thread about pick up Tone and impedance loading. |

Steve, I've gotta give credit where credit is due. My comment about the low impedance input of the NV1000 was made after I read Brad's excellent description of how loading can affect the freq response. I'd always used the input loop of the amp for the volume pedal because it just sounded "better". I now know why! Yes Lee, the forum is GREAT!!Thom |
