I just copped a KickinSteel DBS7 dobro simulator from Stewart Schneider and it's a great little unit. It's about the size of a cigarette pack (American) and has a power switch and gain controls along with an easy to reach on/off switch to engage the unit. The battery is replaced easily in the back with a small door that opens easily and I imagine the life on a battery is fairly long. It's sounds as good as other dobro simulator's I've tried and the price point is very reasonable. Also, because of it's small size, it fits into your stool easily. Bobby, I've been using the KS30, a buffer amp and a fuzz tone for about a year and it does what it supposed to do. I think that all of Stewart's products are consistent. |

The Goodrich MatchBro's came with a special plastic with a brass insert bar. It does make a difference to use the bar as you get a more realistic dobro sound. I've played with my regular bar and it its not very realistic for a dobro emulation. Considering I've fooled dobro and bluegrass pickers with my MatchBro and special bar, speaks for itself. |

Does this particular dobro simulator need a special bar and if so, does it come with one, please? Thanks Gene H. Brown------------------ If You Keep Pickin That Thing, It'll Never Heal! ;) |

Gene, it doesn't come with a special bar. It would interesting to try it with the Goodrich bar. |

Thanks John, but does that mean it won't need a special bar, or that it just doesn't come with one, Thanks in advance, John. Gene |

I don't know, Gene. I guess you could try one and see. It would cut down some sustain, which is lacking in a natural dobro sound. |
