I bought a 1970's Fender Rhodes Piano, and I am looking for a good source to do some minor repair (nothing major), and give it a tune up. Does anyone know a good source near Atlanta, Ga.
Thanks,
Lefty

One of the beautiful things about the old Rhodes pianos is they are so simple and you probably would not have much trouble doing repairs/tuning yourself. Tuning is only a question of nudging a little spring along the tyne with a pair needle nose pliers - sounds primitive but that is the nature of the beast (and much lass hassle than the old Wurlitzers). The action is similarly simple and has only a couple of moving parts. I have been able to fix nearly anything on my pianos with a screwdriver, pliers, a good tuner and a soldering iron (and a source of parts). Download a service manual and don't be scared, there is not much to screw up if you are half way mechanical... http://www.fenderrhodes.com/service/manual.php
There is also a good simplified discussion in the manual of tuning - the old equal temperment vs 'stretch' tuning or just intonation. These pianos came from the factory tuned to ET but I would be willing to bet Chick Corea didn't leave his that way.

Thanks William,
I have a few notes that are faint in volume compared to the other ones. What things would you recommend checking first?
