Has anybody used these amps for steel guitar. If so did you like it and if so what were your default settings? Thanks, Dan |

I had a transfex pro 212 which is the same technology as a trans tube 212 with a transtubefex built in and a steel player friend of mine played thru it and he liked it. Most folks here on the forum will say that an amp with 212's in it just doesn't work with steel especially Peaveys. My suggestion is to try it everybody hears things differently.Bob |

I have the same as above. I find the amp killer and very versatile. But I look for many different sounds.I program in several favorites and use a midi pedal to change around. It is heavey, but 180 watts and 2 Sheffields should be. I have gotten too loud with it, for my ears on stage. I like the open back, I just need 2 fender slant stand parts for the sides. |

Since the introduction of the Nashville 112 amplifier, most every steel player that was questioned stated that a 12" speaker would not handle the low end response. Locating a suitable 12" steel guitar speaker and using a suitable eq will "get you in the ballpark". But there is more to it than just using any 12" speaker.Guitar amplifiers usually have a boost in the upper mids, but with a programmable amp such as the TF Pro 212 you can dial in what is needed. The Peavey Special may be suitable to some for steel, but it was designed for guitar. |
