I have the Peavey Delta Blues with one 15" speaker, I'd guess these models are closely related. Very happy with the Delta Blues, use it for lap steel and Tele.Steinar ------------------ "Play to express, not to impress" www.gregertsen.com Southern Moon Northern Lights |

Yes, I had one. It's very close to the old "59' RI Fender Baseman"....IMHO of coarse. The only beef I had with it was it didn't have the straps on top where the bolts go through to hold the power in place. The bolts just keep pulling through the wood so I made the straps myself.I liked everything else about it but was getting top heavy with amps and that's the one I chose to let go. Geo |

I've never heard that complaint as it was designed just like the Classic 50 amps that we now manufacture. ??????That is not the reason that it was discontinued though. |

Mike, the straps on the top of the NV400 and Session 500 amps is what I refer too. The Blues Clasic was like my NV112 with no straping on the top of the amp, therefore the weight of the power supply and/or the combination of perhaps a weak or soft wood was the cause of the bolt sinking into the wood on top of the amp. That and only that was the only problem I had with it and it certainly wasn't lacking any power or tone. As I mentioned, if I didn't have five other amps I would still have it.Geo |

I have a Delta Blues with a 15. For my ears it is a little too bright for country pedal steel, and doesn't have a lot of clean headroom. But it's good for blues and rock, and might be good with a lap steel. |

Thanks for all the replies. I have heard that the Blues Classic is a lot like the Delta Blues, but with 50 watts of power instead of 30. Harmony Central reviews says it has a lot of clean headroom. Some of the reviews almost complain that it does not breakup fast enough for them.(which would be good for someone wanting to try steel through it) I guess we'll see. I have one coming to me, that has had a total of 5 hours on it, and is in mint condition. I think I will put an E-130 in it, since I have one laying around. ********************************************Question: Should I use a dummy plug on one of the speaker inputs to break the ohms down to 8? Thanks again! |

George, I still haven't come across that situation, but I guess that it could happen if the wood is soft. Thousands and thousands of those style amplifiers have been shipped. ??????????Curt, you'll have to find a large resistor to accomplish that! |

So an 8 ohm speaker will not work in place of the 16 ohm stock speaker, if I use a dummy plug on the external speaker jack? I have been told that would make the amp run at 8 ohms, to match the 8 ohm JBL. Is this not true? |

Maybe my memory is fading - but the Classic 50's I recall were like a Bassman only in looks. They used 4 El84 tubes like a Vox AC30, not two 5881/6L6's like a Bassman. The sound was not close to either IMO, with an awful lot of top end, big upper mids and no bottom-end to speak of. I liked the bite but could get no "big" rhythm sound out of one.[This message was edited by Jim Sliff on 27 October 2006 at 09:16 PM.] |
