I just wanted to say a few things about a wonderful guy and a great steel player. Bobby Bowman was, is, and will always be my hero on the steel. I owe so much to Bobby for helping me get started years ago. Bobby instilled something in me that will always be in my playing. Today I am alot older, and I realize that not only did I get something from his playing, but I also recieved a life-time blessing from his personality.

Through all the years that I have been playing, this year is the first time I have ever played at a steel guitar convention. I had the pleasure of being on stage with Bobby at the Dallas show...what a thrill for me! I was blessed to be present when they gave Bobby the "Steel Guitar Player Of The Year" award...(well deserved BB)!

To all you steel guitar nuts out there, be on the look out for Bobby's guitars due out on the market soon. I have had a look at this guitar and it is very interesting and plays very, very smooth. Can't wait to get one myself!

Hi Robby. It was nice to renew our acquaintance at the Dallas Show. In the early 70's with Frenchy and with your Dad, you were "ahead of your time". You could not have had a better mentor than Bobby Bowman. I consider it an honor to have him for a friend. Whether it's pickin' or fixin', Bobby can do it and he does it well. Best regards, Jody.

I have the utmost respect for Bobby. He has helped me with several mechanical issues pertaining to my steels, and is a great guy to boot.

Welcome to the Forum, Robby. I remember the time you sat behind my steel at the Raney Studio in Drasco, AR. (I think it was about 3!/2 or 4 years ago) We were cutting a gospel album, & you played bass on the tracks. I heard from John Raney III, at break that I should hear you on the steel, & you do most of the steel work there. That's when I ask you to play mine, & oh,LORD, did you TEAR IT UP. I really enjoyed hearing you play that day, But I must say, it was quite difficult to say the least, to finish my tracks that day after you played. Yes, I'm the fellow who E-mailed you this morning, asking who you were. It's great to hear from you again. Tell David Creech hello for me.
God Bless you, Robby, and keep picking a winner!

I'm not sure I know what or how to give a response except to say thank you to all who have said such nice things about me.
However, I do feel I know what to say about Robby Springfield.
He calls me his hero and for that I am humbled, but even though I am much older than he (about 25 or more years) Robby is my hero. I still remember a young kid that had more desire than just about all of us put together. His love for the steel and music in general (he is a monster guitar and bass player) is only surpassed by his love for God and his family.
I've had many proud moments in my career, way more than I deserve or am worthy of, but I know of no prouder moment than when Robby played with me at the Dallas show. If I'd have had any sense at all I'd have introduced him to the audience and got off the band stand. For not doing that I ask to be forgiven by all who attended. But, the truth of the matter is,,,,I wouldn't trade it for a million dollars or anything else.
Being able to share a love, a friendship and a common interest in steel guitars with such a fine gentleman, well, it just doesn't get any better than that.

Glad to see you on the Forum Robby. It was great to get to visit in Dallas. It's been a long time since Pasadena. (twenty some years). I really enjoyed your show with Bobby. The only bad thing was I had to follow you guys. Hope to see you there next year. God bless.
