(this, from Jody's daughter,Maria Elena ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~this is jodys daughter marie elena. my dad is pretty ill with double pneumonia so you can e mail him here at my house for the time being. my sister had a house fire and of the 12 apartments only three were saved..my dad stood outside of the apartment with tears streaming down his face as the fire burned people from their homes, i could see he was terribly upset by not being able to help the fireman and the police. It was a cold night to be out and have water spraying all over, but when he saw casey crying for her kittens ,that did it.he had only a thin sweater on that was soaking wet and a temperature but he didn't care,he was like out of it,If my mom were there she would have stopped him. Later he said to me he felt my mom's presence and wasn't frightened.he wanted those kittens for casey my dad the ''hero" ( yeah right) with pneumonia had to try to rescue my sisters kittens who were left behind to die, when he pleaded with the fireman the fireman said they are only cats and can be replaced. my dad said I can be replaced too so he ran into the aptand the little kittens were hiding under the bed scared,,when he came out the police handcuffed my dad and the people in the street boooed the police which wasn't nice and they applauded my dad for what he did. I know my dad did the wrong thing but his reflexes and seeing my niece in tears drove him to do what he did, He said that was the best applause he received in a long time and it was easier than playing a music job. you know he's a funny guy with a sense of humor they may be right and my dad is wrong, but he did what he did and we are proud of him. there were 5 firehouses on the scene and they stood and watched and one lonely steel guitar player really surprised them. the good news is the chief remembered my dad from his fender days so that may be a way out. The fire chief called today and asked how my dad was and told me that the fireman understood how he felt and now that its over they are happy he didn't get burned or suffered from serious injuries or worse but they praised him for his doing what he did even though it was outside of the law. they invited him to come to the firehouse when he feels better and he said he would do that and would like to slide down the pole and ride the fire truck,he's a riot the fireman were laughing when he said that and said they were worried about him he sleeps most of the day and his condition worsened after getting soaked getting the kittens out. when he took them out the crowd cheered my dad and boooed the police when they handcuffed my dad..I know he wanted to speak to you but his temp is running high and if it continues we will take him to the hospital,he made it ok and he said my mom was right there besides him thank god when my dad saw casey crying he said to me the hell with it I'm going in, and im glad he did. you can e mail him until he is well again. I think he's going to try to sell them Fender fireproof guitars have a good night and tell all your friends and his he says hi. my dad is a compassionate guy and i always admired him for what he is. My moms sister died in a house fire 10 years ago with her little dog and he always remembered that. she lived alone and never been married,,she was 53 years old when she died she died ten years ago to the day that my sisters apartment caught fire, they are investigating the reason for the fire. regards Marie Elena ------------------ ~ ~ ©ż© It don't mean a thang, mm if it ain't got that twang. www.ntsga.com |

Hi Maria Elena...I sure hope Lori and Casey find new suitable accomodations...so sad to lose everything. Please take good care of our "Knight in Shining Armor" ... our "HERO". Double pneumonia is not something to take lightly. My sincere advise, (from experience), get him to the hospital as quickly as possible...he'll probably kick and complain, just ignore his protests and get him admitted.[This message was edited by George Keoki Lake on 13 March 2005 at 06:55 PM.] [This message was edited by George Keoki Lake on 13 March 2005 at 06:56 PM.] |

This E-Mail came to me from Len Mansky, a friend of Jody’s who is not a Forum~Member, but; would like to express his thoughts to Jody and does read this Forum~News! His E-Mail reads as follows: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ I am not a guitar player, but rather; an old friend of Jody’s from our teen years. Jody and our drummer friend, Phil, used to encourage me to take up playing Bass. I never did, but; it skipped a generation. My son, Paul, became an excellent bassist and even cut a few CDs before regretfully retiring to multiple careers as a physicist, husband, and father. I recall Jody helping Paul to buy one of the first solid-state bass amp/speakers. Paul (and everyone else) later decided it was no match for the Fender. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Often times I like to look back in to see what my childhood friend is up to. I have not heard from him in a while and now realize why! We grew up together and have been friends ever since 1941. I have not seen him since 1955 and I wanted to add how I feel about Jody and his friends on this Forum. He is blessed to be part of this wonderful community. I have read this thread as well as John Bechtel’s and there is little I can add to what Jody’s devoted friends have already said. During our teens, often times a group of us were threatened by rowdys who would inflict physical harm to those of us. Jody never backed off although he could have. He stuck with us regardless of what the odds were. This is my friend and I am not at all surprised at his going to the aid of someone in trouble. He has and is a one of a kind. I know of no one who has not the utmost respect for my friend. _ _ _ _ _ _ I was very moved by the faith and thankfulness expressed by Jody and the rest of you that no one was hurt. I share both the faith and thankfulness. Who could not be affected by Jody’s rushing 60-miles, in his infirmity, to aid his family? And by his dogged determination, to save even the cats? And by the evidence that God was watching over his family? _ _ _ 1. A song for ascents. I shall raise my eyes to the mountains, from where will my help come? 2. My help is from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. 3. He will not allow your foot to falter; Your Guardian will not slumber. 4. Behold the Guardian of Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. 5. The Lord is your Guardian; the Lord is your shadow; [He is] by your right hand. 6. By day, the sun will not smite you, nor will the moon at night. 7. The Lord will guard you from all evil. He will guard your soul. 8. The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in from now to eternity. (Psalm 121) _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Let me also belatedly express my sorrow at Jody’s loss of his beloved Marilyn. May her memory be for ever a blessing: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 1. A song of ascents. Praiseworthy is every man who fears the Lord, who walks in His ways. 2. If you eat the toil of your hands, you are praiseworthy, and it is good for you. 3. Your wife will be as a fruitful vine in the innermost parts of your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. 4. Behold that so will a man who fears the Lord be blessed. 5. May the Lord bless you from Zion, and see the good of Jerusalem all the days of your life. 6. And may you see children [born] to your children, [and see] peace upon Israel. (Psalm 128_ _ _ Peace and blessings on you all, Len Mansky |
