Jim Bob Gairrett, steel guitarist for Kenny Chesney, hospitalized in Virginia Beach after the show last night. Jim Bob developed chest pain and numbness of the hands shortly after leaving the stage. He was taken to a local hospital then transferred to a hospital in Norfolk where it was discovered that he had two blockages of 95% and one at 50%. 3 stints were put in place. Chesney flew his wife in this morning to be with him and he is recovering in the ICU. Keep him and his family in your thoughts and wish for a speedy recovery. The Chesney tour will be over in about 2 weeks so I think they are leaning toward finishing the tour without steel guitar.

Jim Bob, you get well and soon!!! Haven't seen you in 26 years and it may be a few more -- take good care of yourself! You need a vacation, you and your wife get yourselves down here sometime, visit with us, see Mexico and take it easy for a while. Seriously, anytime.

I have not been able to talk directly to Jim Bob but his bandmates tell me he is doing great and will be released from the hospital on Monday. He is off the tour for the rest of the year but that's not too bad considering there is only 7 more shows this year.

I have know Jim Bob Garrett since he was 11 years old playing steel with his brothers. That was about 1972 or 73. Can't believe this would happen at such a tender age. Ran into him again at the Colorado State Fair when he was with Kershaw. Jim Bob get well soon and take care of yourself. Tell the brothers I said hello. If you get to Colorado again anytime call. Good luck.
