It is with great sadness that I tell you my father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's last year. This disease has hit him so hard and fast, he is now in a skilled nursing facility. Feel free to email me if you would like more information. |

I am real sorry to hear that. Only this week, I started re-listening and re-hearing some of the Graham Parsons/Flying Burrito Bros stuff and Sneaky Pete's steel is so distinctive and such a pleasure to listen to. That music recorded more than 30 years ago still inspires. I've also enjoyed the work he did for Frank Zappa, Joni Mitchell, Linda Ronstadt and all those California rockers who hired him to 'sweeten' up their country sounding tracks. It wasn't until I started reading the forum that I found out he was also an animation artist. What a talented guy. Hang in there. |

It's a terrible thing to have happen to anyone, much less one of the true innovators in the steel guitar world - and who stuck with HIS style with integrity, grace, humor and class.A real gem of a man. Our prayers are with you and the family, Anita. |

Anita, You already know that I am here to help in any way possible. I remember Pete as the very talented steel player who left me in awe, everytime I worked with him. As he played my steel guitar, I wondered where all those great sounds were coming from. For now, all I can do is pray and offer hope for you, Pete and the rest of the family. You know I love you, Li'l Darlin........... JD |

Keeping your situation in my thoughts as well, Anita. I too have an obligation to my Dad who is much the same in his advanced years. I know you are a dutiful daughter to your Dad, one of my great favorites too, as everyone here agrees...such that he does not lack for comfort in any way. Keeping the faith, JON Z. |

Thank you all for your kind words and warm thoughts. Please be assured that Sneaky is getting the best care there is. I love my father and his comfort and happiness is my only concern, just as his was for me growing up. His gift was from god and he used it well and loved every minute of it. Peace, Anita |

Hello Anita, I'm sorry to hear about your father. I work for a hospice down here in Florida. I see every day the cruelty of Alzheimer's Disease. It is possibly the meanest of all the affilctions that take our lives. I pray and hope for the best for your family. Your father, with a little help from Mr. Parsons, provided the soundtrack in my head for the greater part of my life. Please tell him so, and thank him for me. Such sad news--your father's performance on the live side of the 1972 Linda Rondstat release was one of a couple of pivitol sounds that made me buy a steel guitar that year. Interestingly enough, I was out today and bought the CD re-release of her first 4 records (that record is on there and is why I bought it), and came home to read this...Our best to you and Sneaky and your entire family in this dark time, and hope you know just how large his "adopted" steel family is, and how much we care for and will remember and hopefully pass on his unique gift to us...[This message was edited by John Macy on 20 August 2006 at 05:59 PM.] |
