![]() Bill, that reminds me, I told my wife I was going to trade her in for two twenty year olds, but she told me I wasn't wired for 220! I guess I don't need that second verticle lever afterall. ![]() Dave [This message was edited by Dave Robbins on 02 July 2001 at 12:42 PM.] [This message was edited by Dave Robbins on 02 July 2001 at 12:45 PM.] |

![]() Open Post To All Young Steel Players...!! DO NOT LISTEN TO THESE CRUSTY OLD GEEZERS TELLIN' YOU WHAT TO WEAR TO THE GIG..! Especially if you live (or play) in East Texas, BE CAREFUL...!! I recently went to sit in with a band at the local tavern in Lone Star and wanting to take the advice of one of my heroes, the inimitable Herb Steiner, I tried to get in the door with the old cowboy boot on the left foot and the 4" pump on the right.... NOT A GOOD IDEA... four heavy-duty redneck locals thought the attire not only inappropriate for the club in question, but thought I should leave the immediate area entirely and visit Longview Regional Hospital for a few days... Herb - that crap may play in Austin, but if you head East, you better watch your a... er..... feet..! -Chas |

![]() Crusty ol' geezers, huh? That's pretty funny! OK, 'crusty ol' geezers" line up on this side, behind me an ol' Herb. "New kids" on that side! Hahahhaha!!!! By the way, where is ol' Seymour, anyway? (he can line up in the middle!) Dave [This message was edited by Dave Robbins on 02 July 2001 at 08:43 PM.] |

![]() After putting on my chest-high waders to read thru these posts, it occurred to me that perhaps THEY may be suitable for playing as well. Ya know...the kind with those nice felt soles for good footing? The rednecks at the honky-tonks probably wouldn't look twice at you, and you'd be sure to impress if you were playing with one of those big Rapala stickbaits as a bar(with the hooks removed, of course). ![]() |

![]() John Simms said we should all play naked. Well, I've been there and done that (last New Year's Eve). As a matter of fact I'll be doin' that again July 6th & 7th. The Kevin Fowler Band (my gig) is playing for a Harley Owners Group (HOG) "Ride" at a nudist resort near Brenham TX. BTW, I'll be wearin' my pointy-toed boots cause I'm too self concious to play barefooted Keep on pickin'! |

![]() I like to wear western boots, but they made me change to loafers when I was doing the Hawaiian gig. I really don't like to play bare foot. My footsies are tooo tender. |

![]() Pat... I thought that was you coming out of Milford Music the other day. Your "loin cloth" was having a tough time hangin on with all that wind. Is there some sort of a "cult" in Ricks's store that Im not aware of,,,I saw him wearing cowboy boots and "depends" what does he depend on???? Im not a PA native Im probably out of my element or "mind" or either of the above....he had better get a Family Size pack of Depends,,,,he has a lot of "dependants" wonder if it is tax deductible.... |

![]() Gene ,,,,stay home dont get invloved with this,,,this is a weird thread,,,only weirdo's post reply's I double posted and that makes me a DOUBLE WEIRDO.....and thats where Iam at.....you are different ,,,btw do you want to borrow my nightgown ,,,its made of Fender "tweed" & You Wont Part With Your Either" PS how do you delete this double posting?? bOb ??? ![]() ...yeah, Jody, that was me coming out of the store..trust me, you don't want to see Rick in a loin-cloth....he was leading a group rendition of "Way Down Upon the Swami River"...then he had a barbeque at his place in Shohola...you had to walk across the charcoals to get your burger... ...the loin-cloth is comfortable to play in..there's only one limitation, which turns out is really a blessing in disguise...where to put your bar when you take a break? The lead sitarist is jealous... |

![]() Andy, strange? Yes. Fun? that too! It's all in fun and at least nobody's fighting! Although,I am a little jealous of Billy's slippers with "Hi!" written on them and Mike's Hawaiian shirt. Man, what an ensemble that would make! Oh yeah, one other fashion treatment I may make is to add a toilet paper hanger (with a fresh roll of "Charmin'") to the side of my Pak-A-Seat for all those "crappy" licks I play. I may try to colour coordinate if I can find the paper in the right print. Dave |

![]() ...Jody, funny you should mention where to store the oversized bar...I saw bar covers for $30 for a box of a dozen of light guage, and the heavier the guage, the cheaper they are!! They even come in different colors....Rick didn't have them at the music store, but they had a whole display case of them at Eckerd's Drug Store...check 'em out... |
Pat Burns Member From: Branchville, N.J. USA |
![]() ...ooops, double post....might as well take this opportunity to mention that in case you're on the road and you forget your case or lose it, you can get them at Truck Stops of America for 75 cents each in the vending machines in the men's room...those people think of everything!... ![]() Pat,,,those covers you refer to,,,,are they ribbed? and do they "glow in the dark"? I think I will take a look,,,the ribbed covers give you that "grip" so it dont slip |
Pat Burns Member From: Branchville, N.J. USA |
![]() ...if you don't mind, would you pick me up a couple? You've seen those knit golf-club covers with the tassels on them, right? They've got bar covers with those on 'em, too. They look great when you stand the bar up on your axe, and they keep the bar warm on your break. Get me a couple of those, with the non-slip grips on 'em...be sure to specify "extra large"....althought I have noticed the bar covers don't come in small or medium...just large and up...guess steel players all have big hands... |
Jody Carver Member From: The Knight Of Fender Tweed~ Dodger Blue Forever |
![]() Pat,,,I have to "special order" my size as my size is xtra small,,,,we cant all have big hands. I can get those bar slants better than those with large hands,,,,,my doo wahs work better too,,,I will order the "largest size they make for you" I heard about you New Jersey guys,,,,,you make a mountain out of a mole hill. How do you do that,,,I have a mole hill Im stuck with,,,,Gotta get me a "Mountain" |
Pat Burns Member From: Branchville, N.J. USA |
![]() ..we do it the same way that they do it in Texas, where everything is bigger...we just keep saying it until we fool ourselves into believing it... ...do you know where I can get silk lined loin-cloths? This burlap is starting to chafe.. |
Jody Carver Member From: The Knight Of Fender Tweed~ Dodger Blue Forever |
![]() Pat,,,are you kidding? do you know what its like wearing Fender "tweed underwear" in the hot humid weather,,,,my underwear has the Fender Logo on the front,,,the big "F" in metal...and that heats up during the hot weather,,,,and you complain? This underwear is "vintage" I havent washed them since Leo Fender stopped covering amps in tweed,,,I got the last of the "real deal" [This message was edited by Jody Carver on 06 July 2001 at 03:44 PM.] |

Pat Burns Member From: Branchville, N.J. USA |
![]() ...Jody, I guess it would be appropriate to have a loin-cloth cut from the cover of my Hot Rod Deluxe... ...now I've just got to get Bruce Heffner to shorten the legs on my guitar, get rid of all the pedals and put on 12 vertical knees so I can sit on a pillow and play in the Lotus Position...OMMM......son of a gun, I believe I could levitate this baby... |
Jody Carver Member From: The Knight Of Fender Tweed~ Dodger Blue Forever |
![]() Pat,,,,man if you did that,,,,you would have the "Hottest Rod" around anywhere,,,,shorten the leg??? my middle leg is short as it is,I can however adjust it to "standing position" and then its's really long... That Leo had a thing for "legs" he made mine too short too. Oh whats a short middle leg between Friends anyway ,,,,life it too short as it is [This message was edited by Jody Carver on 06 July 2001 at 06:44 PM.] [This message was edited by Jody Carver on 06 July 2001 at 07:21 PM.] |

![]() Pat,,,move to Milford,,,there are many who dress in that fashion....the area is full of them,,,,I asked one guy which way the Staten Island Ferry was ,,,he said "Speaking" he walked funny,,ya know sort of "swishey" Oh How Sweet It Is....never too late Pat,,,if you could make it there (PA) you can make it anywhere,,,,try it you'll like it |
Pat Burns Member From: Branchville, N.J. USA |
![]() ..I did live in Milford in the mid 70's, on Catherine Street, back when the Hotel Fauchere had a Saturday night coffee house, and the Dimmick Inn was called something else and had blues, the Harford Inn hadn't burned down yet, the Tom Quick didn't have anything, and the Old Mill was a rundown old mill and not a magnet for Staten Island Fer....alternative lifestyles. ...lived in Dingman's Ferry for a few years, too...you didn't ask that guy if he was from there, did you? ...gotta run, I'm on my way to Milford now for my daughter's piano lesson, and to get the ruby re-set in my turban... |
Jody Carver Member From: The Knight Of Fender Tweed~ Dodger Blue Forever |
![]() Pat,,,now it all comes out...you lived in Milford and Dingmans Ferry,,,,I knew there was something weird about you. I guess you know the deal,,,I will meet you sometime and buy you a "milk shake" at Mc Donalds if you would like,,,,I have the special,,,,,"Buy One Get One FREE,,,I'll pay for one and give you the "freebie" keep in touch,,,but be careful who and what you touch [This message was edited by Jody Carver on 07 July 2001 at 07:38 AM.] |

![]() Dave, You would'nt have to shave your legs if you had some dingle balls hangin across the front of your guitar ![]() By the way, where can I get a set of those dingle balls?, and do they make them to fit on Sho-Bud Guitars?, I want to put some on Gordy's Steel some night at break when he's not looking. ![]() |
