Hey Ray,
No slug fest inteneded!
Either you have given Sierra a fair shake or you haven't, eh?
But as a Sierra owner, player, and general Steel enthusiast, let me be the first to thank and commend you on your decision to withdraw your interest or concern regarding insider information about Sierra, its officers, financial status and/or employees.
Good Luck to you in YOUR new endeavor!
NO hard feelers on this end either!
"So happy that Sierra is still with us!"
Me Too!

Getting kind of weepy here.

Kind of a "group hug" moment.

Somebody pass me the Smores™ before the next chorus of Kum-Bay-Yah..

Actually I saw all three, though possibly not your specific year in the boxes of loose parts, however the cataloging and putting in order to be shipped, let aone the process of setting up accounts etc is going to take more than a couple weeks, and possibly months.

It's better this way than in a load of scrap aluminum I suppose, so you'll just have to hang loose knowing that it IS going to happen in a much better fashion than it would've otherwise. The way it's going to be handled doesn't allow for "friends of friends" to poke through, grab and mail out things they find. I've already asked when I forwarded all the emails. That's understandable enough.

Santa Cruz Guitars will be making the pertainant announcements from the best information I've got. If not through representation here, by announcements on their website or answers to emails they get.

I always try to get out of group hugs.. Someone always seems to have a twelve string BJS in their pocket...

Well I didn't see them sharing the George L booth at the L.A. NAMM show yesterday. Didnt see Joe Wright either. Maybe they're at the AZ show this weekend.

Latest that I heard is that inventorying and planning is still going on in the old building, and plans are to move to a smaller location. I wouldn't expect it to be a quick process.

This second hand, but a pretty close source. I might see the tech involved this weekend and will relay any further news.

Ok, maybe I can put some of this to a conclusion. Some of the discourse here sounds like a couple of guys arguing over a Ford or Nissan.

Starting out, I have all of the above and more. I have a Sierra, I have Emmons and I have a Shobud, I have a GFI, and I have a Carter and I'm getting a BMI. My Sierra is a U12, and I have a Emmons U12 PP and I have a Shobud S12 and I won't go into the rest.

They all make great guitars and each has it's own reason for why they are the best. It's bad when a Steel Guitar Company goes out of business because that hurts the others. The fewer companies there are the more price increase from the remaining companies.

Some guys will go to their grave that if it ain't an Emmons, or Shobud it ain't a guitar, others say if it ain't heavy enough they don't want to fool with it.

For durability standpoint many of you guys don't like Sierra because of it's look. From a mechanical standpoint there is not a steel as mechanically sound.

I took my steels to an Engineer who doesn't play and asked him to listen to them, and then I had him exam them and conclude which one he would buy if he was looking for one.

For mechanics he went with the Sierra, for the weight he went with the Emmons and the GFI and Carter.

For Looks he liked the Emmons but he said he was into the wood type look and my carter nor GFI had wood type mica.

Ok last but least is sound, And I get so tired of hearing this, everybody get's there hair up when you talk about single coil and humbucking pickups.

The Engineer couldn't make a firm decision about which one had the best sound playing through the same amp. hum?

I have also setup 2 Emmons Legrand II steels identical and played them and got a different sound?

My conclusion, no I won't give that but I will offer you a story about Cowboy Eddie Long.

Eddie, who played for Hank Williams Jr. was playing a friends Shobud, and broke both knees on the guitar. He ended up pulling out his U12 Sierra.

Ask Buddy Emmons about his Sierra, ask Joe Wright about his Sierra.

Conclusion,
I don't think it's as much about what you like as it is how much money you can spend.

If all of us shade tree pickers had enough money we would just buy one of each now wouldn't we.

Keep it Going, Sierra we are waiting, go Tom
