Just sitting here listening to Gary Stewarts great recording "She's Actin' Single". Pete Drake's wonderful work on this song has always, literally, made the hairs on my neck stand up. What soul! And that key change! Also a classic Nashville RCA studio B sound. They don't make 'em like that anymore.

Another really good one is on "Drinkin' Again". Wonderful break by Pete.

Gary has always been my favorite singer. of all the songs I love, his "You're Not the Woman You Used to Be" is without a doubt the single greatest cheatin' song ever.

Well I thought that it was John Hughey on "She`s actin`single" - maybe I`m wrong?

Anyway,I was at the old RCA "B" studio back in september.
The guy who`s running it now are multi musican Greg Perkins.
He had the bar "Fiddle and steel guitar bar" in Printer`s alley before he went in to full time studio.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but apparently Gary Stewart just took his own life; he was found dead of a gunshot wound on Tuesday in Florida. He was 59.

He sure made some classic records...

Thanks for that info Larry. Weldon really did emulate many of Pete's signature sounds on that one. Thanks again for the correction.
