26 june 2006,
Hello Ken,
I would like to buy 2 battery-less chips for my 2 profex-2es. You program them with Jeff Newmans etc. programs.
We have the best Peavey service workshop here in Aarhus, so do not worry about the installation work.
Please ask at yourpost office what the air mail postage in a letter will be.
I will send you a bank check on the total amount in advance, so please lay the chips aside.
Remember, we also corresponded about this
last year August/September, when I was in Nashville/St. Louis, Branson. See the photos!

Got my TubeFex back from Ken who did the batteryless mod & changed out a couple bad 1/4" in/output jacks along with checking all parameters, knobs etc and loaded the Newman/Peterson settings. Great job Ken! Guess I should have had the Burr brown chip mod done at the same time. Great work on these Peavey Fx units!

You got it all, Kevin! The Burr Brown chip upgrade is just for the Profex 2 and Bassfex. Thanks again.

I still have 39 chips in stock and enough Burr Brown chips for 12 more Profex 2 or Bassfex upgrades (takes 4 chips to do the audio upgrade).

We will be at the the Saluda SC show on Aug 20 doing the battery-less mods and Burr Brown upgrades, Save some freight and bring it on by if you can!

I have done close to 500 batteryless mods in the last year. Still more are coming. Most are now damaged that I am seeing. Low audio, no audio and more problems.
I do work on the Profex 2 and Bassfex for some of these problems. I do not much of any board level work on Tubefex, Transtubefex, Session 2000 or Transfex Pro amps. I refer these to the factory for repair.

The price has now increased 50 percent due to the fact these are the last of the chips on the market. I had to order 100 to even get that good of a price! My distributor is out, ZMD will not be making any more NVSRAM chips and the last of them are in the hands of one or maybe two (one still uncorfirmed) surplus parts houses.

Effective immediately my prices are increasing to cover the cost:

Option 1:

$45.00 for the chip, reload your settings or I can reload from my collection, repackage and ship. I have a nice combo of Jeff Newman and Jeff Peterson settings I can load. You do not lose any Newman settings, just the some that were duplicated.

Option 2:

$50.00 for the Burr Brown chip upgrade, Profex 2 and Bassfex only. The result is a lot less background noise and a sweeter sound. Four chips are replaced with this mod.

Option 3:

Total is $90.00 for both of the above mods for Profex 2/Bassfex.

Shipping charges are additional . I will send an invoice in Excel format and include a copy with your upgraded unit.

I am adding a $2.50 handling charge to cover the cost of shipping tape, running these items over to the post office on occasion, bubble wrap (some units are requiring additional packing), shop items (Q-tips, denatured alcohol and such).

Here are other things I can do for you:

1-I can replace broken pots for $15.00 each (volume on the front or rear only for Profex 2 or Bassfex and only at this price if the unit is sent for the the Burr Brown and/or the battery-less mod), also power supply input jacks for same (have only seen 2 bad ones in all the years I have worked on the units). I keep the pots and jacks in stock.

2-Knobs are $3.50 additional.

3- I can also replace the battery in your cache card, if needed and reload the settings to it for $5.00.

4-Output mod to accommodate a power amp/rack system, doubles output voltage! This is a $5.00 mod as long as you are doing the battery-less memory chip for Profex 2 /Bassfex only!

5-Power supply (wall wart) for Profex 2/Bassfex at $15.00 and shipping. I have a limited supply of Basler 16.5VAC transformers with the correct 2.1mm power cord. This unique transformer also has screw terminals for easy cord repair or replacement. I have used these in my shop and also sold many in the last few years.

-I do not need your power supply sent with the item, I have several here already.

Pack to protect the racks ears! They bend easy in shipment. Try to pack so the item does not shift. Items packed in peanuts will move all around and bump the ears. I have seen many damaged this way. Wrap in bubble wrap for best results.

Personal check is fine. Postal money order works, too!
If you use PayPal I must add about 3 percent to cover the fees they charge me.

The last few chips I have left are all committed. The order for 100 is on the way. I am already getting requests for them. I will put people on a list as they email for chip purchases and installs.

I just got in 100 more Burr Brown audio chips. So far the price on them is holding fine.
