Does anyone use a Vocal Harmonizer in your studio? like the Antaras? have these gotten any better over the years? i never could get a realistic harmony from an antaras unit. Most say these sound kinda fake like the BIAB thing. I was thinking of trying one again, what are your thoughts? |

I am using a Waves Doubler strongly on one cut, and lightly for a touch of 'fatness' on a few other cust of the current project. Works OK for me. |

I have to agree with John Melodyne is very good and a distant 2nd is the Roland V-Vocal that comes with Sonar PE since vs 5.0. Roland V-Vocal is very nice but you have to work much harder to get the same results that you can obtain in Melodyne with just a touch of a couple of buttons. If I need to tune vocals in Sonar and I use V-Vocal it's a pretty laborious task. I've never had a lot of luck with the auto tune feature in V-Vocal but with Melodyne that my friend has I've seen him take the same out of tune vocal clip that I spent a couple of hours on use Melodyne and auto tune it within a few minutes. The down side of Melodyne is it's cost. They make a limited version but it's not as nice as the full version. So I'll stick with V-Vocal and hopefully Roland will update it and make it better in the future. Bob |

Thanks for all the help guys...Doing just fine john my friends thanks. Well..i would like to get one, i will check out the Melodyne, if it doesn't take an Eistine to operate it, i seem to be loosing patience in my old age..lol You guys have a Merry Christmas. |

Yes, these are much improved. I still use the original Antares ATR1 for acoustic bass, and most anybody's vocal track. Either live or in the studio. But... this is a pitch corrector. Made for a single note input from a tuba to a flute. The TC Helicons vocal harmonizers are amazing right out of the box. You will be sounding like CSN&Y just by plugging in. In the $700-800 range. SWweetwater.com. Our singer is very handy with this thing live. |

You may wish to look at Melodyne cre8 http://www.celemony.com/cms/index.php?id=products_cre8 Melodyne cre8 is the least expensive version that they make that does harmony. It works pretty good. Go to the site and listen to the examples. There are sme interesting videos to look at as well. I've been playing with auto tune 5 from antares for several days. It's pretty cool, but it doesn't do harmonies. ------------------
