I recently bought the Flynn Steel Guitar company from the Flynn estate and am in production. Hope to have a couple of guitars ready for the St. Louis convention. My booth is just beyond the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame booth. Come by and say hello and look over the Flynn

My web site is well along in process, with some pages still under construction. It is at http//www.flynnsteelguitars.com. Check it out, but give it time to load.

I'm sorry. I tried to delete this post out of respect for the announcement of Lynn's death on the "Extended Family" page, but I got a message that "only forum leaders (sic) can delete messages."

Donna and I were close friends with Harold and Lynn for nearly 16 years and, sadly, watched both of them go down physically and emotionally during Lynn's extended illness. She had recently experienced a series of strokes and was moved to a hospice when her doctors concluded that she was nearing death. We visited her room on Friday evening and she passed away on Saturday morning. Her death was an act of mercy and release from the devastating, degenerative illness of alzheimers.

Jim, I know I have done that in the past, but every attempt I have made on this one gets the same message back, i.e., can't do it. Any suggestions?

Fred, I don't think Harold's relatives will be offended by this. After all, you were a close friend and you are carrying on Harold's legacy. May God bless and keep you in this endeavor. We need a few more Harold Flynns and Fred Laymans in the world. Jody.

Fred:

Hafta' agree with Jody; I'm certain the family, and Harold, are very pleased, and proud with your continuation of the Flynn line of guitars, and would certainly take no offense, particularly in light of your closeness to the family.

Fred, I too do not see anything wrong with the post but I can delete it if you want,

I would think the Flynn family would be proud that his steel guitar building legacy is being carried on.

Fred,

We all know the gentleman you are, and I don't think any of us will think any less of you. See you in St. Louis and looking forward to playing your show.

I must say that I am also happy that Fred is continuing to build the Flynn guitars. I knew Harold for several years and I know the long hours he spent designing this guitar and it is great that you, Fred are going to keep this going. I tried one of Harold's early guitars and took it on the job to really check it out, and for what it's worth, it was one of the finest at that point in time I had ever played. I haven't tried one recently, but I'm sure if anything they would have to be even better.

Fred, I wish you the best in this new venture.

FRED, CHEERS FOR WHAT YOU ARE DOING IN KEEPING THE FLYNN COMPANY GOING. HAROLD WOULD BE PROUD, AND IT'S ONLY FITTING THAT A PERSON OF YOUR CALIBER AND CLASS BE THE ONE TO DO SO. I ALWAYS FELT THAT THE FLYNN GUITAR WAS ONE OF THE VERY BEST I"D EVER SAT IN FRONT OF. IN FACT, I'VE ALWAYS WANTED ONE AND NOW THERE IS STILL HOPE. THANKS, FRED. SEE YOU IN ST. LOUIS. LONNIE PORTWOOD

Thanks for your sentiments fellows. We were at the funeral home this evening and again, as was the case with Harold's funeral, there was a long line of friends to extend their sympathies to the children. This couple was greatly respected and loved by relatives and friends I mentioned the post at the head of this string to their son and he told me not to delete it, so Jack I will let it stand. Thanks

I also am one of the honored and privelaged people who knew Harold Flynn. He was one of the finest men I ever met. He had a great passion for the steel guitar as was evident in his playing and guitar building. Best wishes Fred in your effort to keep that going. I'm sure Harold would be pleased.
