I just got word today that Ivan is in St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa Ok. with a very very serious heart problem. He was well known on the west coast before coming back to Ok. He is a very good steel player and a very fine person. I love going and looking at all his pictures and listening to his many stories. He taught Jack (can't remember his last name) but he played with his favorite girl singer Connie Smith for awhile. Also we need to pray for Zelpha (his wife) and their children. |

If you would look in the dictionary for the word "Friend", the definition would be Ivan Ward. I'm sorry to hear about my friend & Mentor. Ivan & Zelpha, may God be with you and you both are in my prayers in this time of your sickness. I know that you have many, many friends who are praying for you. God Bless You! ------------------ |

Yes,very sorry to hear of Ivans's problem. Give him our best. Our prayers are with him. I was hoping to hear him play in Siloam in a few weeks. |

Ivan, you are a dear friend to me and I am praying for you and wishing you a speedy recovery. If its that heart valve acting up I sure wish you would go ahead and get it fixed. I am so glad I got mine repaired and would love to see you get it behind you. I sure want to see and hear you pick at the Siloam Springs show thats coming up soon. Get well old buddy!! Jerry |

I have know Ivan for 30 + years, he lived just a few miles from him here in Ca for many years, we played and talked steel so many times, his house was the meeting place for all the steel playes around here, Just want Ivan, Zelpha, Steve, Brenda and Roxi, to know there all in our prayers here in Ca....Get well my friend.... |

I met Ivan in 1954 when I frist got back from Korea.He was picking in a club in Modesto Ca.Get well Ivan we still have alot to talk about.My prays are with you. |

Update on Ivan Ward I'm sorry to report but there is nothing that can be done to his heart. I got the wrong hospital. It is Hillcrest in Tulsa. His direct phone #is 918-579-6611. A very good friend of the family said he would get to go home with hospice's help. One of his daughters is also staying. I will print these off and take to him when he is a little stronger. |

Ivan and Zelpha are family to the Oklahoma and Arkansas steel guitar community. We all need to join together and hold them up in prayer. I have only known Ivan and Zelpha for a short time but instantly became good friends. I am very sorry to hear of Ivan illness and I am praying for Ivan's recovery and for Zelpha. Got a call from Donley Harrington last night. Ivan is back home and they have requested no visitors for a while.You can talk to Zelpha at 918-422-5410. |
