It will occur on June 26th, 2005 at the Ball Ranch just south of Abilene (2 miles) on 83/84 on your left. Has anybody talked to Bob Rains as of lately? Havent seen or heard from him in a week or so, guess he's busy building steels. He was suppossed to call me when the Peterson tuner came in, guess will try to call him. Larry , do you know if the tuners are in yet? |

Hey Bob & Shady! That sounds great Bob, the more the merrier! Shady, I am waiting for one of the Peterson Tuners also for Gary Ball at the Ball Ranch. I had lunch with Bobby Rains & Fred Justice yesterday. He told me the tuners are due in now, but still haven't arrived. I get more emails and posts everyday, I believe the show will be great. Hey Bobby, Jim Loessberg says not to play to good and show him up. He is a great steeler as well as you! Lookin' forward to the meeting! Later, Larry Toliver |

Jim is, indeed, a great steel player, and can hold his own with the best. I'm sure glad this is not a contest. I'm really looking forward to the meeting. If you see Bob Rains, tell him to call me. |

CONTEST!!!!! HMMMNNN! now theres an idea!! They have contest in every other thing, why not a steel guitar contest? Could be based on most original licks, unusual chords and how to use them, best looking , well maybe not that, hhmmnn, what do you think Larry?? Say a 1000.00 dollar 1st. place win, bet they would come out the woodwork for that. |

Hey Shady, We need to sign up plenty of members to be able to do something like that. I am really looking forward to the show. By the way, we will be meeting Saturday am around 10am to discuss the 1st club meeting in Anson. If you can make it, that would be nice. Later! LT |

Hey Doyle, Good job with the promoting! I believe we will have a great time at our first meeting. I think there will be between 40 and 50 there from the emails and posts I've got on my computer. I know Jim Loessberg will have his new cd there for sale, and I hope to have mine there as well. Later, Larry Toliver WTSGA |

Larry , I had forgotten there are some young steel players in our area, met two of them last night, one sat in for 1 set with us. They did not know about the association meeting and were very excited about it. There is nothing in this area for them to meet pro players and learn new licks. Wonder how many more young players there are around we dont know about or had forgotten about? This will be a windfall of knowledge for them. I remember in our young days there was no E net and no order places for instruction, you either learned it yourself or followed the pros and tried to copy their licks the best you could, but the whole industry is at these guys fingertips if they will take advantage of it. See you on the 26th, i have made my resorvations for St. Louis, are you going this year? |

Larry Toliver Member From: Merkel, Texas, USA |
Hey Shady, I am definitely going to make a big effort to go to St.Louis. I have been there before and it is awesome. It will be an awesome place to be on the 26th in Abilene also. The 1st meeting of the West Texas Steel Guitar Association. Keep up the promotin' and we'll have a successful club! Larry Toliver WTSGA |

Larry , can you post directions for those coming to the meeting from the south, probably will be coming through San Angelo. Thanks |
|
Larry Toliver Member From: Merkel, Texas, USA |
Sure Shady, If you are coming from San Angelo, you'll be coming in on 277. It turns into south 14th and meets up with the Winters Freeway, or the loop. Get on the loop and go towards Coleman (83/84 south). You'll see Abilene Regional Hospital on your right, and about 1 & 1/2 miles down south, the Ball Ranch is on your left. Go past it about 100 yards, make a u-turn at the River of Life Church. Go all the way to the back and come in the East door. We'll be there waiting. Later, Larry Toliver WTSGA |

Just a note that Curtis Potter lives here in Abilene, is a close friend, and said he would be at our 1st meeting also on June 26th. He plays regularly with Jim Loessberg, and has also played with Bob Tuttle. Hope you all can make it. Frenchy Messier said he would also join the WTSGA and help us out. Be There!
