Tommy..I think this is the one you were meant to post....sent to me yesterday by Joe Diamond...Nashville Cat in his own right and Bass player for late Johnny Paycheck

A friend at the Country Music Hall of Fame alerted me to a new series of events that every studio musician should know about and support. Bill Lloyd, a great writer, musician, and part of the duo Foster & Lloyd, recently joined the staff of the Country Music Hall of Fame. Bill put an event together that honors steel guitar legend Lloyd Green. It will take place this coming Saturday, the 18th, in the Ford Theater on the ground floor of the Country Music Hall of Fame.

No one can question that Lloyd Green is one of the greatest steel guitarists who ever played a Nashville session. His decades-long string of hits is enviable.

Lloyd’s first recognition was for the great licks he played on Warner Mack’s records on Decca, including The Bridge Washed Out (And My Baby’s On The Other Side).

Lloyd became part of Charley Pride’s sound, playing on most of the hits in Charley’s golden era.

And Lloyd’s dobro was a major part of Don Williams’ sound.

Lloyd’s most recent hit was Alan Jackson’s Remember When. For the first month that record was out, I had to pull the car to the side of the road when it came on. After the modulation and Lloyd’s wonderful solo, I could drive on.

Lloyd’s fills are perfection. He is always good to the song and the singer. Another great steel player, Weldon Myrick, told me once that after Lloyd plays a song you realize that’s the way it should have been played all along—a high compliment from one great steel player to another.

This Saturday’s event will document Lloyd’s career. I called Lloyd for details and he says it will include some film, questions and answers, and some information even I never knew about Lloyd—and I’ve known him since before he played on his first hit.

Lloyd will have his steel set up and will demonstrate a few intros, solos, etc. You’ll hear a portion of the hit and then Lloyd’s live steel along with a story. For instance, Lloyd told me about the intro to Tammy’s D.I.V.O.R.C.E. He will share technical and historical information about the pedal that was used and how the intro came about.

My hat’s off to Bill Lloyd for starting what promises to be a series that will honor Nashville’s unsung heroes and my heroes, studio musicians. Anyone who agrees our studio players should have more credit should turn out Saturday. Let’s fill the Ford Theater up so this series will continue.

He has contributed to a range of hits, stretching from classics such as Tammy Wynette's "D-I-V-O-R-C-E" and Freddie Hart's "Easy Lovin'" to recent hits such as Alan Jackson's "Remember When." Probably too late, now, but how does one either see or hear this?

OK, I get it, live and in color, but this sort of thing ever get to video or DVD?
