I pulled this from the following website. This is assuming that the wax is a furniture type beeswax or paste wax. I don't imagine that it would hurt your finish to try it, but I would test first on a small, inconspicuous area... http://www.rosiniantiques.com/waxingtips.html Removing Wax Tips: Use gum turpentine to remove wax without harming the finish. Apply wet with a cloth and wipe until clean. Lightly use 0000 steel wool in the direction of the grain for heavier areas.
Finish by wiping with clean dry cloth. Gum turpentine evaporates quickly, and will not raise the grain of the wood like water.

If you're talking about a MultiKord or a banjo, a strong belt sander would be just fine for that task. ------------------ Herb's Steel Guitar Pages Texas Steel Guitar Association

Dennis: There is a product called "Milsek Furniture Polish and Cleaner" Made by the Milsek Co Petersburg, OH (330)542-2700 This product does NOTHING but clean. It will not damage any wood finish. Use it on my violin and piano with no ill effects. A rare product in that it is both safe and effective. It won't be real quick but it will work well. Steve Bailey |
