Hi Guys

Just curious about the way Tommy splits the so called "Franklin 4th Pedal" change. Tommy lowers the 6th string on LNV and lowers 5 and 10 on RKL. Also, Tommy raises 1 and 2 on pedal 4. Any reasons or examples of these would be appreciated.

thx

Bob, click on the links above, that takes you to another page and you'll see tunings at the top. I know Tommy's tuning but you can see for yourself.

I've observed Tommy using the pedal raising strings 1 & 2. I don't think his knee can move as fast as his foot considering what I heard coming out of his amp.
I also have the "Franklin" pedal and the "split" on knee levers simply because my forth pedal has a "Gimble" change on it. I guess we are all entitled to have signature pedals regardless of musical expertise or lack there of.

I have 1 & 2 going up on my LKL(2) - I have the first only going to G# on pedal 4 for when I need it quickly. Otherwise I like to raise 1 & 2 along with my ('Day') B & C pedal for that major 7th.

Gary

I'm familiar with it, just wanted to know what splitting the change would do? (Licks, changes, etc)

thx

Tommy has strings 1 & 2 on pedal#4, because; he uses the ‘Day’ set-up. I have strings 1 & 2 on pedal#1, because; I use the Emmons set-up, and it seemed like the natural way to go, and I don't use it much anyway, so; in the first position, it's generally 'out of the way'! Just like the usual pedal#4 change on C6, raising strings 4 & 8 1-tone. I never used that much, so; I have that change on a LKV, so; it's there, if I need it!
