I don't have any information technically, but I love his playing on Bill Frisell's albums. |

There's an interview with Greg in my book. He uses a number of tunings including C6th, A6th, open D, etc. but often tweaks a string or two on standard steel tunings to intervals approriate for a given tune. |

Right on Nate! When I saw Greg with the Intercontinentals a few months ago, he was playing an Asher lap steel, Bob Hoffnar's Emmons push-pull, (Greg uses a PP for recordings he told us), and what I thought it was an old Rickenbacker lap in some kind of E tuning. He used a Line 6 Delay modeler, a Tube Screamer of some sort (I think) and a Deluxe Reverb. The Deluxe was a rental, but Greg sounded like himself nonetheless. I am a huge fan of Greg's playing, and had the pleasure of meeting him after the show. A true gentlemen, non-pareil tasteful player and inspiring to talk to. |

I just heard Greg this weekend on National Public radio's Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Kieler. The show was in San Luis Obispo, Calif. Greg was all over the place playing with all the acts. I listen to that show every week now and I hope he becomes a regular. They've got a great acoustic finger picker on there who played the Merle Travis tune Cannonball Rag. Greg took a cool ride on the pedal steel on that one.------------------

Greg Leisz seems to have an impressive list of recording credits and I am familiar his work with KD Lang, Joni Mitchell and most recently Bill Frisell (and his Intercontinentals). His solo break in KD Lang's "Full Moon Full of Love" partly inspired me to take up this instrument. How did he do that do-wah thing? |
