You have to explain what ya got...>heck I did good at just finding out what Shobud you have...ha. So...what color is it? Are the wide pedals or narrow pedals? Curved or straight knee levers? Round front or square front? How many raise and lowers on the changer fingers at the end plate? curved headstock or cut off straight headstock? Do the screws for the pickups go through the top sleeve of the pickup and through the bottom sleeve...or just the bottom sleeve? Oh and there's a lot more questions....but chew on that a little and lets hear from ya. Ricky

It is that dark red with the yellow and black ribbon on the front. The pedals appear to be about 1 1/2 inches wide. The knee levers are curved. The top edge of the front is slightly curved. I think there are 10 changers. The headstock has a real funky shape that I never even noticed before. The pickup is a black double coil with silver lines. I wondering about that pickup now.

And with the curved(round) front...puts it 1975 and earlier. That IS a replacement pickup...and your saying it has silver lines(meaning two silver bar magnets??) makes it most likely a Bill Lawrence pickup> does the pickup have a silver caseing or black casing around it...>705 being the silver and 805 being the black. Can you tell me how you tune the pedals and knee levers at the end plate?? Like are they nylon hex tuners that you tune with an open end hex driver or are they metal round tuners with a hex in the middle that you tune with a allen wrench??? That would determin if it's indeed a first year Pro I(when they called it pro I) or the next few years series. So far; I determine that you have a very great sounding Pro I....ha...what ever year it is...>but early 70's is a good bet right now. The instument came with a tuning key which fits around the plastic or nylon fine tuners. It has a strange insignia on it that I cannot decipher. Thanks, Don
Ricky Davis Moderator From: Spring, Texas USA	posted 31 December 2003 11:36 PM profile Yes that is indeed a Bill Lawrence 705 Pickup and it replaced the original Single coil shobud pickup...and is a great replacement as the old shobud pickups can develope alot of noise. Nylon tuners....>Ok how about 1975-76 Pro I. Have fun. Ricky
