I just wanted to post to let all you guys and gals know that there is a Lamar Pedal Steel site up in the Manufacturers section on the Forum .... I met Lamar Colvin ( President and builder of Lamar Pedal Steels ) when I was at the 30 PSGA gig in Norwalk ...There were a lot of great players there, and off to the side was this display of only 2 pedal steels, and I have to tell you , I asked so many questions and looked under the steel and had Lamar flip it over, and he went thru the steel piece by piece and explained it all to me ...Let me tell you guys, this steel is built in a VERY professional manor, and I can also tell you that it has tone like no other steel on the market ... It's small and light weight and the most beautiful woods are used....I have the U-12 that's on his website coming to me by the end of the week ...If you're looking for a truely custom steel , and have it built exactly the way you want it , give Lamar a call ...I think you'll be surprised how good a pedal steel you can get , and get it at a price that will put a smile on your face ... How many companies do you know that give a money back gauarantee ....I can tell you this, after you play a Lamar, you won't want a dime of your money back !!...David F. also plays a Lamar and he can attest to the tone of these beauty's ...He also designed a very nice site for these steels....Give the Lamar site a look see....You will surely see the quality that I talk about ..Lamar is also a very stand up guy, and the type of guy you would want building you the steel of your dreams ....Give him a hollar !!....Sincerely, Jim |

The Lamar site is not a part of the Forum. It can be found at http://rockdiamond.com/pedal/lamar.html ------------------

Yeah, I saw them at the show also. They looked real nice. Top quality craftsmanship both on top & underneath! Not sure how they sound though. |

The Lamar has landed !!..All I can say is WOW! This thing has tone for days...even with ME playing it !!...It took me no time at all to set it up...It was so cold here in NY, and the Lamar came from Texas ..There was condensation on the metal parts when I took it out of the case and put the legs on to let it warm up !! I wiped it down and let it settle into my nice warm living room with the fireplace going..Even after that trip in the severe cold, when it warmed up IT WAS IN TUNE !!!... I couldn't believe my ears, and after checking this bad boy out, I couldn't believe my eyes..This is one of the prettiest and one of the best playing steels I have ever sat behind...Nothing left undone or 1/2 done...I'm very happy with this steel...It's very light weight, yet it stands very strong and secure on the floor....This is a stocking feet player if you want it to be...I'm going to adjust a few things as it's set up Newman ( which I play ) but I have my A pedal all the way to the left rather than in the 3rd pedal location Anybody needing any info on the Lamar, give me a yell...Thanks for listenng....Jim | |
