I just received an inquiry from Kiril. He asked whether my first string was tuned to a G or a D on the C6th Box tuning. I use a D note instead of the high G on all of my C6th guitars, including the Box.....Paul |

Billy...Thanks! Sorry, I didn't make that clear. The 10 string acoustic pedal and non-pedal instruments were nicknamed in the studio, "The Box," and was listed on records that way. I forget most folks are unaware that those instruments exist...Paul |

Paul, I was listening to Randy Travis' Always & Forever, and noticed that you are listed as playing the Pedabro (pedal dobro)but I couldn't tell what cuts you were on. That album has PSG and standard dobro also, making it tough for me to pick it out. Is that also tuned to C6? |

Paul played Ped-a-bro, D9 tuning on "I'm Going To Love You Forever". Jerry Douglas played dobro on the others. |

Sorry Paul, you played some great 9th playing on the C6th on that song. Fooled me!!(not that, that's hard to do). BTW Paul, ain't it about time for another CD? How about Sweet Dreams for one of the songs.I heard you play that in Knoxville a few years ago. It made my hair stand. Tony[This message was edited by Tony Dingus on 10 February 2004 at 09:10 PM.] |

Kiril Todorov is a steel builder and player in Bulgaria. He's a friend of mine since more than 10years, as far as I know he's building non-pedal steel guitars. Paul, so good to have you here, you doing such an excellent job on each album since so many years! I really buy CD's if I found your name on the booklets!!! |

Paul, I'm curious (not to get too far afield here).... how often do you use your pedalbro in the studio? |

Bill, About once a month, because regular dobro is the most requested.....Acoustic instruments go through cycles. The next smash hit with Pedabro will probably switch the requests back. The Dixie Chicks last record influenced this trend. Dobro's and Banjo's are all over the place these days......Paul[This message was edited by Franklin on 14 February 2004 at 01:48 PM.] |
