Can some one fill me in on the Derby. I own
one & love it but know very little about it's history. Was Buddy Emmons involved in it's design?? Thanks for any input & comments.

Between the time I checked out Derbys & purchased mine Uncle Charlie (Stepp) told me that Buddy was indeed involved with the design. We've had a few conversations between now & then, and that one I do remember. Maybe those more in the know could contribute. Johan Jansen could probably tell you the most as he's been involved with Uncle Charlie I reckon pretty much from the get go. Jerry Brightman, Dana Wayne, & Steve Hellerich could add to this as well.

I'm very sorry, I'm not involved, and neither I was in developing and building the Derby. It is a very fine instrument and the Stepps are beautiful people. I endorse the Derby guitar here in Europe in every way possible

Sorry Johan, I didn't say that right. I knew you weren't involved in construction but that you were one of the 1st to play one & had been playing one for many years.

In the November 1998 Steel Guitar World Magazine Issue #38 Vol 7 there is a nice Charlie Stepp interview. Says he worked for
the Emmons Guitar Company for 18 years before starting to build the Derby.
Good background information on the instrument is provided.
