At the 2003 ISGC there was word of a new PSG manufacturer and that they had guitars on display. If so, who were they?

Are you thinking of the "Lamar" guitar? They had a display at the Norwalk, Conneticut show this year, seemed like a nice product. Built by Lamar Colvin, Havana Florida. There is a link on this Forum under steel manufacurers... Larry J. |

That could have been it Larry, but somehow the name Lamar doesn't ring any bells. Thanks. |

David, Lamar Colvin of Lamar pedal steel fame was in Conn. and as you face the stage , he was about mid way on the right hand side of the room .. I have one of his U-12's , and can not say enough about it !!....Great steel, with great tone, and very light weight !!...The craftsmanship is really hard to beat as is the tone !!...The Lamar site was recently added to the manufacturers section on the forum listings....Lamar will make you a truely custom guitar with just about anything you want on it ....Try Lamar out...I'm sure you'll be happy you did !!.....Sincerely, Jim |

Tim that's it,BSG is the one I'd heard about. I didn't know where they were set up and I missed seeing them. Larry & James, I'll be sure to ck. out the Lamar first hand. Looks like a fine instrument.

I think the brand that Mike Sigler was playing was a DRB, built by Don Burrows in Ohio. I have a pic around here somewhere of him playing it at Don's home. Greg |

Thanks Greg. I knew the guitar name that I'd heard of was a monogram or something along that line. I'm always interested in the efforts of new and existing steel builders. |

I do build the BSG Steel Guitar. Make everything except the tuning keys and pick-ups. Make stainless and aluminum legs of any length and also parts for older steel guitars that are hard to find parts for. Also just starting to build student models with 3 pedals and 2 knee levers for beginners. Don BSG Steel Guitars |

I recently got a BSG; it's one of the finest steels I've ever played. Very smoothe action with a sound that stands out in a crowd. Don is a man who really cares about his product and takes pride in his work.------------------ Wayne Hetzler 04 BSG SD10 98 Carter SD10 00 Carter SD10 Evans FET500 Nashville 1000

Hi Greg, I am sure we will get down that way sometime this summer. Will E-Mail you before we come and maybe we can get together and have coffee. If the weather is promising we might bring the Goldwing. If any of you people haven't heard Greg play, you should go to Renfro Valley and listen to him. He is one FINE picker. Don BSG Steel Guitars |
