I have developed a squeak on my LeGrande III when I push the B pedal on rhe E9th neck. It is coming from under the guitar. I need to know how and what to do if it needs to be lubricated. Also, what product would be the best for a lubricant?

I had a small squeak under my LeGrande II also.
I found it to be at the point where the Pedal rod hooks to the cross shaft. I put a little dab of petrolem jelly or something like that and that stoped my Squeak
So I just put some grease on all of the rods at the top.
Good Luck

My dear friend Larry is correct. I had it also.

Squeaks under a PSG can come from a myriad of causes. And yes what Larry found is common. There are other less obvious things also. I will list some others I have found:

1. Two adjacent pull rods rubbing against each other.

2. A pull rod rubbing against a forward bellcrank body. Or rubbing against the swivel's allen screw of a forward bellcrank.

3. A crossrod bearing needing lubrication.

4. Pedal rod at the pedal connector needing lube.

5. Pedal rod connecting to crossrod crank needing lube.

All of these things can cause annoying squeaks. I am sure there are other places also. I have had squeaks at one time or another on every PSG I have owned. I suppose for many players who play only in loud situations, they are never bothered by this. But it is one of my pet peaves, since I play only at home in a quiet low level playing scenario.

And I gotta tell ya, dem squeaks aint in tune wid any note I play

Thanks guys for the info. It does sound like it is coming from where the pedal rod hooks up. I will try the petroleum jelly and see if it solves the problem.

I put a small amount of lube on everything that has metal to metal contact about every 6 months

Skip, What kind of lube do you guys use? Does the changer need anything as well? Thanks for the response.

I use AMSOIL on my LeGrande. Plays like warm butter.

One place overlooked, where the changer fingers pivot on the endplate.
