Both of those Forums are at EZBoard. The SGF runs on a dedicated server that I own, running on a dedicated leased line here in Cloverdale. So there's a big difference in the level of service and reliability. I like the people running those other Forums. They are members here, and I'm a member there. The problem I see is that they have tied the fate of their forums to EZBoard, which often has large technical problems. I like to think that the SGF is more stable and more permanent than EZBoard. This topic doesn't really belong in the "Pedal Steel" section, but I'm not sure where to move it to...------------------

Now I have these icons on my desktop, new serch toolbars I DON'T WANT, and words like "music" and b0b's mention of "pop-up" on this forum are highlighted, so if you click on them, guess what.... Anyone know how to get rid of this crap? This really makes me mad |

If it is, I suspect it's due to something that was loaded at th EZ Board Sites. Run Ad Aware and Spy-Bot programs to clean it out.

Those new icons on my desktop are "KillAllPopups, MP3Players4Sale, NoMoreSpyWare, PrivacyProtection". Their properties show a URL of www2. and www3. I think these are spyware popups, which your blocker won't stop. Or they're trojan horse. |

I have been trying to get rid of this crap for eight hours now. Finally starting to get a hold of it. There is a ghost virus with it you can get rid of by going to antivirus.com and using the free scan. then run you ad ware about 15 times

Ron, I respectfully disagree. If I find something interesting on the Net and I want to share it with others on the Forum or anywhere else, I check FIRST if the site has malicious software. I am usually very careful, and I make sure I do not set traps for others. This is called "being considerate". I know Nick did not do this on purpose. If he had done this on purpose, I would not have thanked him. ------------------ Peter den Hartogh 1978 Emmons S10 P/P; 1977 Sho-Bud D10 ProIII Custom; 1975 Fender Artist S10; Remington U12; 1947 Gibson BR4; Internationally Accredited 3D Animation Academy

If you are tired of these kinds of problems, there is a very simple solution: Macintosh. You will never have to worry again (these folks nearly always target Windows users only), and you get a much more user-friendly OS. And a nice looking computer! |

Wow. I visited the site a few days ago. Fortunately I'm using the Mozilla browser.Has anyone gotten a browser hijack? BAD STUFF. So many of these viri are aimed at IE users by MS-hating hackers. Do yourself a favor and download the free Mozilla browser. Plus Adaware and Spybot. All three are free! Drew |

Steve Stallings has always seemed like a stand up kind of guy on the forum from what I recall. He may be unaware of what's going on. I highly doubt it's malicious on his part or Nick's. He needs to be made aware of this, though. That said--I'm not going anywhere near the site ... |

John and Joey.I agree with the both of you..I don't think that this has been done intentionally. Not everyone is a computerwizzkid... Ron

In the "Computer" section Tom Demeir had a fix for these trojans. It worked for me. I too, don't think Nick or Steve are at fault. If I'm not mistaken, Steve is a Mac user. He may not be aware of any problems. He should now. I still recommend staying away. |
