Does anyone have a PHONE # for JWP?Last Sat. I ordered a BJS tone bar by Visa (debit) from JWP Web site. I figured it would be the quickest route as I was hoping to get one by next Sat. gig and BJS only takes orders by mail. I also emailed JWP as to when they could ship out. I never recieved a response from that email. I never recieved an order confirmation. I sent another email asking if anyone was minding the store and no response. So... 5 days later(Wed.) I cancelled the order through email and ordered a bar from Malcom at Cody's Music (why didnt I think of that in the first place!). Malcom Kirby was the personable, accessable, and ship-it-out-the-next-day-for-you kind of guy as usual. Today, thursday, I recieved an order confirmation AND a debit from my bank account for the original order with JWP. NO response to any of my emails...just the debit. I'm trying not to be pi*#d yet. Maybe theres an explaination. Like Joe's on tour and his 16 Y.O. nephew is running things while he's gone. JWP Website lists NO phone # . Might anyone have it? Ill be sure to keep what follows posted

My 2cents? Trying to be objective about this, I don't think you gave him enough time. You ordered on Saturday, and then cancelled on the following Wednesday...is that right? If he was closed, or busy playing that weekend, then he had less than 3 days (72 Hrs.) to respond and fill your order. That's hardly what I would call an inordinate length of time for a small businessman. Of course, these days, it seems like everyone gets a little impatient, occasionally. |

You quite right Donny. I dont fault JW for not filling an order at the snap of a customers fingers. If I need a bar in six days, thats my problem, not his. However, it might be clever, if not cool, maybe even a good bussiness practice, to check his customer emails first. Without even having to read them, some might have a heading such as ORDER CANCELLATION, like mine was. Like I said, the cancellation was submitted a day before the order was filled. It might also be cool for a small bussiness man to be accessable by telephone. Every other PSG vendor Ive dealt with is. BUT...I havent heard from him yet. I hope to soon. I realize Im expressing some irritation here which might be premature, I guess its something to do with the combination of inaccessablity by phone; ignored cancellation; ignored emails....... Again, does ANYBODY know how to reach JWP by PHONE?[This message was edited by Steven Welborn on 23 September 2004 at 07:48 PM.] |

One issue may be the fact that Joe's mom is in a bad way with Alzheimer's.Joe is a very honorable guy (not to mention amazing musician), so a bit of forebearance/patience is probably the right thing to do here. Making contact BEFORE the order is placed is crucial for a rush order- for example, a call to Frenchy probably would have gotten it 2nd Day Air'ed to you, if not overnighted. The BJS is an excellent choice! ------------------ http://www.johnmcgann.com Info for musicians, transcribers, technique tips and fun stuff. I bought a BJS bar a few years ago and, yes, they did want me to send a personal check in the mail, but they shipped the bar out the same day I called them and the bar and the check "crossed" in the mail. I was pretty impressed with that kind of service.------------------

All that John said above, and I'll add that Joe does a lot of steel shows and other gigs, and they are not all near his home.So you need to factor in travel time, and chill out and recover time. He is a multi-tasking kind of guy, but there are limits to what one can do and keep all things clear. I am sure he will make good on your deal. Joe's good people. And the BJS is a good bar.[This message was edited by David L. Donald on 24 September 2004 at 02:07 PM.] |

I think that Joe may be or already has moved to Nashville. If he has, it'll take time for him to get straightened out with his business. Don't quote me on this but thats what I've heard. Ray |

I feel bad for Joe Wright about his mother having Alzheimer's, my mother has this terrible disease as well, and she is only 65 years old too young for this, just thankful that my mother is in the early stages of it. steveb. |

Thanks for the informative responses. Im confident Joe is cool and probably preoccupied in one form or another. I probably should apologize to him for being a headache. |

The kind of business that will hunt down dissatisfaction and overpay what the "demand" is, even if only by a buck or two is the kind of business that will make it.Whatever the price of the bar, I'd bet that at this moment it's been doubled in either more sales, or orders coming from people that see what kind of stuff Mr. Wright is made of. I imagine Mr Welborn will be advertising, and buying more things. With Bobbe S, Mr Wallace, Mr. Hilbrun, (Bullseye Bars) Mr Hilton, and a few others, Mr Wright is now on MY list of people I'd go out of my way to deal with. It doesn't take much to get on, and stay on either one of my two lists.. I'm sure others are similar. EJL |

As I said "I am sure he will make good on your deal. Joe's good people."Joe wright "Steve, A refund check will be in the mail to you when I return to MI. Keep the bar...joe " BobbeSeymour " Wow! " Case closed ! Class act. In this age of mom n pop shops on the net with a good product, and suddenly finding business booming, but only a garage for stockage, and one or two people to take burgeoning orders, and holding down a day gig, or family responsabilities too, coupled with our new found expectations for instant online gratification of our consumer urges, it' s not suprising that the real world, human needs, of a small business owner might not always jibe with our external expectations. And yet the small company is dealing in the best of faith at all times.

Joe Wright is a great guy and will always do the right thing. He is making a living doing what he loves to do in a business that is very tough to make a living in and at the same time devoting much time to caring for is ill Mother. I would be willing and honored to be his fanclub President anytime. Jerry |

Joe, thank you for the wonderful offer and gesture. However, please dont refund the doe. Since I now have two 7/8" BJS bars (thanks to MY impatience), I'd much rather exchange the one you sent (still in box unopened) for a 15/16" and pay the difference. I had a hard time deciding between the two sizes and knew Id wind up with the other sooner or later anyway. I sent you an email about that but I guess yoyre not able to access them in MI. hence my communication here. Again, my apologies for being a pain in the butt. StevenW. P.S. and there aint no hurry either [This message was edited by Steven Welborn on 04 October 2004 at 07:52 PM.] [This message was edited by Steven Welborn on 04 October 2004 at 08:10 PM.] |

BTW... these BJS chrome bars are great. But as others said, they ARE on the slick side. Last night during a solo I dropped mine for the first time. A little nervous sweat didnt help any. It takes a little getting used to but so far I think the BJS bar a definite improvement.
