No, I'm not referring to one of BOBBE SEYMORE's blondes. Years ago, when I lived in Nashville,TN, DUANE MARRS once showed me some new steel guitar legs. They were high quality, lightweight, machined aluminum. They were fully adjustable and rugged yet they weighed pounds less than the conventional steel legs which are often just modified microphone stands. They were a bit more expensive because they were made "on demand" by a guy named Lonnie ____?____. Through the years I have wondered,as I have watched steel guitar manufacturers try all sorts of ways to cut the weight down on pedal steels, why no one has tried or developed this idea of lightweight aluminum legs??? Can anyone out there shed a little light on this?? ~~W.C.~~

Thanks guys! Knowing the high quality of GFI steels,I'm not too surprised that Gene would be one of the few to incorporate such an innovation. GENE FIELDS has always been an innovator and craftsman. ~~W.C.~~ |

I've never tried them myself, but a few people I've talked to said aluminum legs allow the guitar to wobble when hitting knee levers. |

JIM, whether the legs cause wobble or not, kind of depends on the quality of the legs and on the size of the musician. I've seen guys that could make a Dekley walk across the floor! THERESA,thanks for the info! Someone there will get a call from me soon. |

I've had aluminum legs on one of my Franklins. Didn't care for them, they impacted the tone and sustain of the instrument.Jeez guys, we are playing pedal steels, who's going to notice a pound or so of extra weight?
