Is there still a way to find BJ fingerpicks anywhere? BJ is a combo of Jeff (Newman) and Buddy (anybody's guess ). My pedal steel teacher has a pair he's used for 20 years or so and they look great. They are pre-bent to a good angle, chrome plated and have BJ stamped on them. He didn't think they are the same as the ones advertised on the Jeffran website. I left a phone message with Jeffran and never heard back- is it defunct? Any insight would be appreciated.

JOEL,don't go wild and crazy over the pick thing, seriously,i got all kinds right here in front of me,i try BJS JFS even bought a set of cobalt the other day,i have dunlop, national.i try them all side by side.you can't even tell the difference in the BJs and JFs,at all,i don't have any extra BJs but i got a bunch of JFs,brand new, email me and we go from there.they all have the diamond holes, and i will promise you,you will not here no difference.sure don't like the dunlops, they are to wide and hang on strings. The cobalts i bought cost me with shipping 10.00 each, they do stay on better, but can't tell any difference in sound.and i have played for 40+yrs.

Joel, the BJ's "Diamond Rings" are not made anymore. They were almost like the nickel silver JF's [available from Jeffran] except they were chrome plated. The JF's work good for me. They are pre-bent just like the BJ's were. I think they are as close as you can get to the old BJ's [Buddy, Jeff]. You might check Ernie Renn's Buddy Emmons site for possible info if there is anything similar to the old ones or see what Mr. Emmons is using.

I have both the BJ and JF picks. The BJ's are a chrome plated copper colored metal and the plating wears off around the edges. The JF's are nickel/silver and identical in appearance and thickness to the BJ's.

Thanks, everyone! I appreciate all of your firsthand knowledge. Thanks for the photo, Steve. It's clear that they have the same dimensions. It looks like the JFs will do the trick. I like the fact that they are pre-bent. I'm tired of trying to get the nationals just right, I always manage to put a couple of nicks in them bending them up.
