Does anyone know what tuning Dave Gilmour used on "Breathe In the Air" from Dark Side of the Moon? I've had to use E9th, dropping my G# to G, and changing the bend from a half to a full step. I wonder if there's an easier way?

Yes, that's exactly it! E Minor Tuning, knowing that sure helped me. I just hold the B Pedal Split on string six down and it works out well. And all you really need is six strings and a $10,000 processing rack!!

I see. You have a lever that lowers G# to F#, with a tunable split. Combining it with the G# to A gives you an in-tune G. Releasing the lever produces the full tone raise to A.

Or think C6th. As you release P7, raise the bar two frets.

I think that Gilmore used a Fender pedal steel back then. I can't find any information about his tunings.

Thanks! Do you do most of it on the 12th fret? I'm still missing a note on a bend in the intro, like 3rd bar or so? My PSG has been packed away for a couple of weeks, so I can't sit down and tell you what the missing note is. It's played in conjunction with 2 other notes/bends, so I think it should still be played at the 12th fret, but I cant find the note on any of the pedals. I'm very much the beginner, so please forgive my ignorance and lack of terminology.

I'm using a Fender too, an 800 I believe. It's pretty old, but it sounds great. I run it through my Vox Tonelab SE amp simulator, the same one I use for my guitar setup. I AB to the PSG, and use a Bassman sim with tons of reverb. 6 pedals but no knee bars, I'm thinking of adding some. I have no idea how, but that's a question for another post!
