This is for Bobbe (and others)
At the Steel Guitar Nashville web site I see lots and lots of GFI steels. But not one is keyless.
I think Gene Fields makes the best keyless tuner. Doesn't anybody want it?

Yes, I truly feel that GFI has the handle on the keyless steel guitars, big time!
I sell many of this model, never gives any trouble. This leads me to feel that Gene Fields has done his homework and produced the best of this design.
I haven't stocked many of these in the past but am thinking about putting a few more on the floor next month. Yes, they do have some advantages, so---------> WHY NOT!
I never hear any complaints from those that have bought them,

I have 'em on mine and I can't imagine anything else for live. Their precise, stay in tune, the only strings I've ever broke are the 3 and 5 and only when the strings are already overdue to be changed. About a month of hard playing time. It takes about 15 seconds to change a string if you have the string and srcewdriver handy.

3 out of the last 4 GFI Pedal Steels I have sold have been keyless. It is a great design & just works too darned good!! Gene definitly has the edge on keyless, not to mention tone.

I have a keyless GFI, 1 year now, it has worked perfectly since day 1, string breakage is less than normal, maybe 1 a month(3rd),sometimes none at all. In my limited experience it is a great guitar. JimP

Just out of curiosity (because I have never seen a GFI in person), what makes the GFI keyless design so much better that say the Williams, Sierra or Kline?

without a doubt, the best guitar i ever owned in my lifetime is the GFI Ultra Keyless.
Better tone, Longer String life, Perfect tune (Always)!! and very road worthy... What more could you want? I have had mine in 8 states this year alone, and in all kind of conditions.. and it has never failed me...
GFI is at the top of the heap in my book!

Not that I've established any kind of reputation, but I wouldn't want anything but a GFI keyless. I've had a keyed steel, but keyless is just tops no doubt. Tuning is absolutely easier and more precise than keyed.

I wouldn't own anything BUT a keyless, and Gene makes a fine fine Keyless steel...However, i think Williams, is good also, never heard any complaints about either..i can't speak for a Sierra, never played a Sierra keyless, but Bill at Williams sure makes a nice keyless, and he has alot of new finish's and color combinations now, that will just knock you out....
