Charlie. No, Jagwire Strings are not flatwound. However, they can be if you feel this is what you want. We currently do what we a call a "smooth wound" string set for one of our artists, Bobby Caldwell (recording artist and staff musician for the St. Louis Convention)who plays a six string 335 style guitar. However, we have yet to have anyone ever ask us for a flatwound string for their pedal steel guitars, and hence, don't produce these type of strings on a regular basis. I personally wouldn't recommend this type of string for pedal steel use, but we leave it as a "to each their own" on this application.

I realize that I haven't answered every question presented here that has been ask. However, please don't think it's because I am avoiding and/or ignoring the particular question. The only way I could answer that would involve me revealing our trade secrets in why and/or how Jagwire Strings are better, and of course, we won't do that.

In any case, we want you to try Jagwire strings, the process we use is a lot different than any other brand, and we sincerely believe you will love them. If not, we do regret that, but you have nothing to loose. We'll give your money back. Every manufacturer knows they won't be able to make everyone happy all the time, but we never stop trying regardless. :-)

Thanks, Danny. It was just an impression I had for some reason, not what I'm looking for. I like a 'smooth' wound, like half- or ground rounds.
Oddly enough, I just won an eBay auction bid on an item, and a set of Jagwires was thrown in, so I'll get to check them out.
They must be popular for a reason.

Bob,
Thanks for letting me about the Jagwires through the forum. I'll keep this in mind when I order my next bunch.
Regards,
Nic

This is my story and I'm stickin to it:

I put a set of Jagwires on my Dekley in January and I finally broke the 3rd string last month!I play this guitar off and on everyday for a few hours and no other brand of string has come anywhere close to that and I've tried all the popular brands over the last 24 years.
