Those Gauges are certainly not gauged for a Sho-bud 24" scale. It's just marketing and Zero research involved.

I never could figure out the Sho-Bud gauge thing either. I used SIT's for years before I switched over to Frenchy's Steel Mill strings. Matter of fact, the gauges listed above for the Sho-Bud is exactly what I used. That's also the same gauges I use now. The only difference I can tell is I have to readjust the 10th string a little with the tuning nut.

I have used SIT strings for quite some time, but compared to Jagwire or Cobra Coil...the SIT strings are just not as good.
That's my personal opinin ofcourse.

I have an Emmons LeGrande III and I have tried Jagwires,George L's,GHS and a couple of other brands. To my ears for this guitar the SIT strings sound better. I guess whatever sounds best for each individual is the brand to play.

I swear by S.I.T for my six string guitars, but on the ShoBud I won´t use anything but Jagwire.

I would absolutely trust Ricky's word regarding the string gauges for Sho-Buds. Perhaps the reason SIT claims this string set as a "Sho-Bud" set is the fact that the 6th (G#) string is wound, not plain like the sets used for the E9th on most pedal steels.

I hardly remember even playing my old Pro II as it was well over 30 yrs. ago. But I know that guitar required a wound string on the 6th, G#. A plain just didn't pull correctly or sound as good on her. According to Ricky, that model Bud was the best sounding. He's probably right, it was great sounding... shoulda' kept her I guess.

I have used SITs alot on my Emmons and ZumSteel guitars and been very pleased with them. I also have a good stock of singles and sets from Emmons and ZumSteel. All are good, but I think the SITs stay alive-sounding the best and longest for me. I've been using the Buddy Emmons, Power Wound sets on both E9 and C6. I replace the stock 3rd on E9th (.011) with an SIT 11.5 (.0115) which being a fraction thicker, sounds better to me.
