I'm away from where my steels are for a few days and can't measure these two S-10 cases of mine, so I hope someone might be able to give me some dimensions while I strategize a shipping situation.

What are the inside measurements of cases for:

1) Sho Bud Professional (ca. 1969) S-10
2) BMI S-10

I'm hoping I can use one or the other to ship a >35" S-10 in. Reason I ask with such urgency is that knowing these measurements will also help me figure my means of travel to where the steel is and with an advance purchase ticket, etc.

Thanks if you can help.

I measured my BMI S-10 case (for a keyed guitar). I can't swear that it's original, since I didn't buy it new, but I think it is. It's a good but not perfectly tight fit.

The interior dimensions are

for the back steel compartment: 33-3/4"L x 8"W x 4" deep.

for the front pedal rack compartment: 33-3/4"L x 5-3/4"W x 4" deep.

for the lid: 33-3/4"L x 14"W x 1-1/4" deep

My factory original (new S-10 steel shipped in this case from BMI in '84) case measures:

steel compartment: 33-3/4"L x 7 5/8"W x 4" deep

rack compartment: 33-3/4"L x 2 1/2""W x 4" deep

lid: around 2 3/8" deep with additional 7/8" blocking at either end.

Even the smaller 7 5/8" width of my case (vs. Dave's) leaves some slack around the guitar's 7" width.

Thank you, gents. I figured the BMI was a little shorter than 35". I seem to recall that some Sho-Bud model's (Professional seems logical to me because of the pompadour keyhead) case (inside) was in the 35-36" vicinty. Can anyone with a (6139) Professional S-10 or similar confirm this?

My '73 Pro II is 33.5" end plate to end plate. My new case is approximately 1.25" wider to accomodate the 3 position neck switch. OD's are 36.125" X 17.250" X 8".

Also, if you want to support the S-10 Sho~Bud from the bottom of the case, block the keyhead with 3/4 X 1.375", and the changer end with 3/4 X 2.250" to level it.
