The main music I play is with the band Hem. We have new CD coming out that we recorded pretty much live in the studio. As a bit of an after thought and the end of a day of tracking we recorded the tune "South Central Rain" by REM . It made it to the CD to my surprise. What you hear is the first take of us running through the tune. I'm proud of how it came out. Its a good example of how I play steel on the singer/song writer scene around here.

Check out the myspace link and click on "south central rain" if you want to hear it.

It doesn't sound like a first take to me! The Steel sounds great as the song does overall.

Hi Bob:

Lovely songs and singing and playing. I've been an REM fan ever since I first heard the "Murmur" album back in college. And, the "Rabbit Songs" album is STILL one of my favorite listens, even after a few years now. I'm looking forward to HEM's latest.

Thanks for the update!

Bob, I found that on the Hem myspace page the other day. One of my favorite REM songs. Beautiful job to all y'all. Thanks for that song. It brought back some fond REM days memories.

We just made "friends" with Hem on our myspace page. Check out ausetmusic.com or the myspace page for ausetmusic.

Thanks guys. We have been touring and recording together for about 5 years so its gotten pretty easy.

Brad, nice site. I'm going to try the myspace thing again pretty soon. I signed up a while back to see about using it as a gig anouncement page and within 10 sec some guy wearing a white tee shirt looking over his shoulder wants to be my friend and some chick who says she is a model but wants me to like her for her mind show up. I sent them messages saying who the **** are you and whatever your problems are I don't want to know about it.
Then I unsigned myself right away. I guess I didn't understand what the site was for. Maybe I'll sign up again and be the guy that has no friends but has a bunch of nasty replies on other peoples pages this time

On the Hem thing we should be doing a little touring next month and then some more in the spring/summer. The new CD coming out in feb has plenty of me on it. It was fun doing the solos and everything live with the whole band playing. I feel more loose and open that way. That is unless I blow the solo and need to start punching in !
