Does anyone ever experience getting these hangnails on your pickin thumb. I have one that is so sore, I have been unable to play for three days. In the old days I use to coat blisters or hangnails with clear fingernail polish to make the finger useable. I am interested in remedies or etc. thanks, Lefty |

I sometimes cut a small piece of adhesive tape to fit over the sore part. It seems to protect it from rubbing by the pick. I've used New Skin liquid bandage also. |

I use (don't laugh) crazy glue! It dries very fast, and even stays on through hand washings. Just use a small dab to cover the area, and cement the loose skin in place. Also, make sure you're taking a multi-vitamin because vitamin deficiencies can actually cause hangnails and many other skin problems. |

Super Glue [cyanoacrylate] works for me too! Also great for split nails, minor cuts and scuffs. It will give you some insulation and help with the soreness too. Caution!: You don't want to get this stuff near your eyes or mucuous membranes and you probably should check to be sure you're not allergic. There's also a product called New Skin which is a liquid bandage you apply like fingernail polish. Avaialble at your drug store. The super glue works better and lasts longer for me though. [This message was edited by Jerry Overstreet on 22 March 2006 at 10:57 AM.] |

My finger tips used to split open and bleed.. ( i cut my nails too short) you should have seen the groupies eyes when I played my Telly.. blood all over it.. I got more...sympathy.. but that's another story. I use super glue all the time .. burns like hell, but keeps me picking. |

I've also used super and crazy glue. When I play a long gig on a flat top with no caluses, it works also (but I hate not feeling the strings}. |

When doctors reassembled me after my aortic aneurism repair, they used something called Dermabond to glue the cut edges together. There were no stitches and/or staples. After one year, the incisions became invisible. This glue can stolen from the local hospital. |
