How do you compensate for "D" on the second string for an E7th chord when you do not have a D lever? I have RKL and RKR set up like JIM LINDSEY, RKL E TO F on 4 & 8 and RKR E TO Eb on 4 & 8. Do you tune the D# down for the second to a D.? In looking over a number of tunings most of them keep the D# on the second string. Aparently it does not seem that important. When I was playing Lap Steel on a D8 Fender my first level was always tuned to E7th. A good country tuning when I was young.

Use your 9th string along with the E chord and get your E7th....RS

The D lever is a standard lever. It's very important. If I only had two levers, I'd raise strings 4 and 8 to F on one of them, and lower strings 2 to D and string 8 to D# on the other.

In other words, I'd lose the 4th string lower before I'd lose the 2nd string lower.

Appreciate the suggestion Bob, I've only had this insterment a few months and I am not that familiar with the under side of the underside of the insterment. It would be just like me to start pulling it down and not able to get it back right and there it would set, maybe when I have a little more experience I make that a project. I pick up a lot of tips from the fellows on the Forum, and viewing the links. I did have a Fender S10 with one Knee with a set up lowering 8 & 2 but sold it to purchase my MSA D10. I bought it right here on the Forum from Bennie Hensley, It's a Great insterment, probably my last.

For now i think i'll take Ron's suggestion and use the 9th string for the E7th chord.

Ernest, I think I still have Email in my file about the purchase of the MSA, and Bennie mentioning You. In fact, I think he tried to reach you, you were the first one up on this insterment. You were out of town or puting the funds togather.I'm not sure of the circumstances.it has been a while, but I think it was something like that. When I saw that MSA listed I thought why not. It is a great insterment.

Question since I got you on the line here. I'm not sure if it is tuned C6th or B6th and at the time I'm not sure if Benney said C6th or B6th and I have no way of knowing since I am still getting a handle on the E9th. I do know C6th is used in Texas Swing, but what of B6th. I do see Steelers talking about S10 set ups of E9th and B6th on the same rack. Any information would be helpful. Ernest I would have probably let the D10 go buy If I had found an MSA S10, like I bought in '75 and traided for a DoBro and Cash because no one knew how to play the thing. I had been playing a Fender D8 at the time. Well I have rambled on here now for to long. You have a good day.

Ha Ernie, this is Wayne again I just noticed where you are from, Lake City Fl. It can be a small worled, I don't care if it is 25,000 miles around at the Equator. My wife has an Aunt and Uncle that life out side of Lake City. I'm not sure of the address but Lake City is their postal address. They live east of where I10 and I think it is I75 cross. they can see I10 from their back yard. We havent been down there for a number of years, My wife and her Aunt do the Email thing two or three time a week. Well what do you know. When I saw Lake City I just had to mention I have been there, nice city and gitting bigger.

If you don't lower your secong string, you can always use a bar slant to get that note.

Also, your E to F lever makes an E7th at the 3rd fret. I often go up 3 frets when I need a 7th chord.

b0b has the ticket. The F lever alone gives a diminished chord. The notes are separated by 3 half steps. But these are the same intervals as the 3,5 and b7 of a 7th chord. Therefore, take the open-pedal chord at any fret, and go up 3 frets and hit the F lever, you get the 7th chord, without the root. If you press the A pedal, the b7th (on strings 10 and 5) is raised a whole step to the root. Therefore, any chord you make with the F lever and A pedal combination can be made a 7th chord by releasing the A pedal.

I use the A+F to F lever only a lot for the major to dom7 move, perhaps too much even.

I like it so much it makes me think about a lever to lower the 4th string E to D for a similar sound, love that dom7.
