As some of you know I recently purchased a Clark Custom D10 from Rick Troyer at
Hummingbird Music in Ohio. It arrived with a sizable crack in the body between the C6th changer and the endplate that was not there when it left his store. Not even 20 minutes after it's arrival I was on the phone with UPS and filed a claim. Rick Troyer worked with me closely for a little over 3 weeks and today a check for the damage to my guitar came in the mail.

It's not very often you see something good come out of these situations. I consider myself very lucky.

I would like to thank Rick and everyone at Hummingbird Music for taking my phone calls and helping me get this taking care of. And a special thanks goes out to Bobby Bowman for his help too.

When shipping anything of value via any carrier, especially UPS, please make sure that you purchase adequite insurance. Even then, if your item is damaged, be prepared for mucho hassel, as with any insurance company, they do not like to pay claims.
Often it takes far longer to get satisfaction than you expect. (read like this: its a freaking pain in the ass). Trust me, I have been through it.

Ensure that your item is properly packed. I have seen where the PSG arrives ok, but the case is damaged, especially where the divider is for the leg/rod space. Some very heavy duty high density foam in there might help.

Packing carefully is so much eaisier than dealing with the insurance claim department. Trust me on this. IMHO you should take your steel guitar case and wrap a layer of bubble wrap around it and then box that up. Apparently you just could not pack it well enough in some cases.

OK you have been warned,Fred

Hello Jim,
Greetings from DeLand. I'm glad to hear that everything worked out great with the Clark. I looked long and hard at that one when it was at Hummingbird Music. In your pictures it looks even more beautiful than when it was in the store. I'll bet it sounds like a dream.

It seems a "Hats Off" would be in order for UPS as well. Great looking guitar Jim. Catch ya in the chatroom.

Can this crack be repaired with a strong wood glue.
It seems that the whole wood framework would
need to be replaced.
Just curious.
