I'm considering picking up some of JW's teaching materials...

My question is, does the info on the first two videos (Secrets of the Wright Hand, and the Left Hand video) overlap much with the Technique Bundle book?

In other words, if I bought the Techinque Bundle, would the stuff on the video be redundant?

Thanks in advance for any help those with experience can provide!

It definitely overlaps, but the DVD's have the advantage of letting you see good quality shots of Joe's hands, especially if you're interested in his pick blocking approach.

So both would be best IMO.

That's correct. The technique bundle doesn't cover things like hand position and finger movement. Those things are one of the keys to Joe's amazing technique. The video gets in there really close so you can see what's going on.

I've seen Buddy Emmons pull up a chair right next to Joe's right hand, in concert, to get a good look at what was going on. Joe didn't break a sweat. He's incredible.

This comes from someone with no music training. Before I started on steel.
Here's MTCW

I have Joe's DVD and My approach to Steel guitar book. I also have the hand techniques you are inquiring about. All these are good. It was a little over my head at 1st.
May I suggest Dick Meis Uptown Steel book 1 for beginers and his DVD tape then move up to book 2. Speed picking is covered a little in this stuff. I find my self drawn back to his teaching all the time.
