Last week went garage saling with the little lady... I hit them hard.. Find some good gear every year... anyway, I look into a box, see a bunch of dirty old drum stuff, old stands ,junk,etc.. I also see a Goodrich 120 with trim control... then an old SCRIPT LOGO MXR Phase 90 from the 70's... hmm,,,Old Rogers chrome snare, blue sparkle 13' tom..

My heart starts beating faster ... I start to look around to see how much the volume pedal and phaser will cost when my wife looks at the boxes and says.. "They are bothFree boxes".. sure enough, BOTH boxes of gear were marked FREE!!!.. I talk to the woman, try and pay her SOMETHING, and she wants NO part of it... Just wants it gone... I went home toting 2 BIG boxes of gear.. The Goodrich is a bit oxidized and dirty, but works great.. The MXR works great... the old script logo Phase 90 is worth $250 on ebay..

This is not to mention a couple of vintage Rogers drums and gear, bass drum pedals hardware etc... I got $400-500 worth of musical gear for free from a total stranger.. She didn't want a dime,.. Just take it away she said... thank you Lord.. thank you ma'am.... bob

Oh Man!! That's wonderful!
I have dreams like that! The kind that I hate to wake up and find aren't real!

Great find!
Well done!!

That's great Bob! One time I bought a 1969 Fender Super Reverb amp for $50 at a garage sale, and my friend bought an old 1960's Telecaster for $40! Of course that was 25 years ago, but still a great deal at that time. About 10 years ago one of my students bought a refinished (red) Fender 6-string steel guitar w/legs at a tag sale for $25!! Vintage gear is nearly impossible to find at tag sales nowadays... you're a lucky man! My days of garage sales are over... I can't get up that early on weekends

This whole thing here seems a little off Pedal Steel...however it's interesting. I'm always "garage sailing" on a Saturday morning. In the last 4 years or so I've found a Gibson LP Junior for $3.00, a 60's Gretsch solid body (can't remember the model #) in mint condition with original case for $35.00, a National 6 string steel with legs, case and matching amp with the "bird" on the grille cloth for $50.00, and a Fender Rhodes piano for $10.00. You just got to be early, lucky, and ask! A nice lady couple of years ago brought this "old archtop guitar" into my shop for new strings etc. for her dad for his birthday. Turned out to be a beautiful L5 Gibson from the late '20's. She had no clue what it was worth. Her Dad has since died, and it's gone back under the bed I guess. I also know of, and have worked on a small Gibson acoustic that's hand signed by Orville himself. It's under the bed in a house not a mile from here, probably won't be played ever again, due to their personal circumstances in the household.
Just my 2 cents worth.

You should try Goodwill and the Salvation Army, too. All sorts of stuff turns up.

Ain't that just like ole Bob, finally gets his hand out of the globule of strings, cleans up his hand goes out and finds stuff like that and doesn't even have to pay for it. Do you suppose he'll be in St. Louis, steel guitar fans?

Bob ,
Thats even better than my deals,
a while my wife came in with two amps
she bought in a yard sale.
one was a Peavey mace 212 and the other
a woodson 4 channel pa both worked great
she gave $10 for the pair.
The next day she bought a silvertone by danelectro and a 15 inch silvertone tube amp
for $20 each
Every saturday now I send her out scouting Lol
