This was a lot harder than I thought. Phew!
Anyway, besides the basic C6 setup, this requires

A to Bb raise
A to Ab drop
split-tuned pedal 7 with A to Ab drop
split-tuned pedal 7 with C to B drop

less important
C to C# 3rd string raise
2nd string 1/2 tone drop, 6ht string 1/2 tone raise
5th string whole-tone drop
These can be skipped.

Any comments, suggestions for substitutions, etc. are welcome!!

I've updated the tab with a few more nifty changes. Al Marcus suggested an extra diminished in the refrain. Also, I heard Ben Jack's very pretty rendition on the song in E9, and I added a few chord changes. Check out Gm6 to F9 on the last verse. I think it's awesome. Again, keep the suggestions coming.

I'm not strong on varying my grips to include some moving bass lines. I would love it if some players would offer some suggestions. Thanks. .. Jeff

Hi Jeff, on first look, it looks good. How did you get it so neat? Did you use Ron's Cliktab?
I remember hearing Jimmy Day playing that, and he used a nice diminished pattern there in the bridge.
We had a great girl singer back in 1966 at the Los Robles in Santa Rosa, calif.(b0b'home town now) and she sang that song beautifully.
We had bass, drums and me switching between guitar and Gibson-Electra-Harp with 6 pedals. I played the intro, and then the whole chorus. I just stayed on the root to 6th in that part.
Many years later I heard Jimmy Day do it on a cassette and realized he was putting a dim chord in there so I started doing that too.
I hate to write tab and agree with you it is a lot of work. Maybe Clik-tab can help me...al

Al,
If you're referring to the part that goes "Way up on the chimney tops", I'm using a diminished there too, using pedals 5 and 6.
If that's not what you mean, tell my the lyrics where you used it. .. Jeff

Hi Jeff, it is "one day I wished upon a star"
I missed the dim on that for years, until I heard Jimmy Day do it! Then I said "hey what's this?" Nice!!!!....al

Jeff, I printed this off and it is a nice arrangement ! My arrangement of this tune seems pretty simple in comparison. Thanks for the ideas.

Read the [tab] section in www.b0b.com/forum/ubbcode.html to learn how to "shrink" it, Jeff.

# means to sharp that string 1/2 tone, or one fret, as in E-F. ## means to sharp that string by a whole tone, or two frets, as in E-F#.

This was my among my earliest attempts at tabbing. I stopped doing the sharps and flats method a long time ago. And the sizing is wrong. And I want to find out if there is a standard key that it should be done in. Give me several days to clean it up. Thanks.

Hi Jeff,
were you using a pedal/knee lever configuration that is different than that of a standard C6 setup on this tune?

if so, are there any shortcuts to figure out the alien pedal work?

thanks,
David
